It did turn out that was for the quest Clearing The Camps, which actually took me quite a while to finish because I didn't realize it, nor did I realize there was something of a trick to one of the other two also. Turns out you need 10 of the beating sticks to open the gate. I finally broke down and watched a video. I had been clearing all sorts of camps with people putting up double xp all the time, which got me through the 40s really fast; I just crossed 50 earlier. TBH, I feel like I am really a high 30s player who runs around checking out new areas and slaying things for xp when I had trouble with quests. I killed myself out of Lost Sanctuary Dungeon earlier because I couldn't do the parkour I managed a few days ago; left hand isn't really recovered from marathon sessions. I did the first couple of levels of the first floor in Tower Of Ascension before hitting the issue I really need to get through and can - fighting ranged weapon mobs. I just got Escape Artist, which will probably work wonders in an arena like that. I am getting better about picking my way through tight spots with a few longer rang bombs to take out ranged weapons when travelling. Otherwise I never would have made it to TOA at all. I cleared the cave near it pretty easily.

Looked at this list of bows:
    https://forums.wynncraft.com/thread...de-with-all-legendary-and-fabled-bows.298661/
and I now have an Evanescence and an Infinity in the bank. I plugged them into Wynnbuilder fudging my rank forward and leaving everything else as is and saw decent improvements for each step. After posting about speed and having someone tell me it really wasn't a major factor, I tested an Eruption and found it definitely is a huge factor for me. I only want fast bows. The numbers on the Evanescence kinda threw me off with the reduction in main attack. But based on info in that list and what Wynnbuilder tells me, I will give it a try at 52. The Infinity looks right up my alley for 55.

I guess I will need to start looking at armour also. It's going to be really hard to ever give up those Galloping Spurs. Riding around with Guardian Angel up, even greatly reduced, is nice. I also still have the Seven League Boots in the bank; who knows when I might need to jump off a cliff; going to try that as in insane shortcut one of these days.

I struggled with clearing the camps too. I just didn't realize that one of the camps was underground. Galloping Spurs allowed me to solo all three of the hardest Wynn bosses (not including the silent expanse). After that, though, because boss fight were just running in circles around the boss, and wasn't very fun. Speed is really nice, and late gate having that much speed is OP. The only reason why I don't use a speed build is because I like to be competent in every category, so I use a set of gear that gives me skill points and elemental defenses in every category. Btw, once leveling starts to slow down for you, you can either try to do quests, or you can try to find secret discoveries, which also give quite a bit of xp, and give a lot of lore.

I do try the quests. I really enjoyed Ice Nations (Ghost Ship), which was basically a floating cave. I start pretty much all of them, but bail on some parkour. I try it and do manage some of it. I don't have a lot of patience with the puzzles. I do play puzzle type games, but the "hidden way to do this" are not the ones I really enjoy.
Secret discoveries is definitely something I want to do. Obviously not simple and getting too much guidance makes them not so secret. Non secret discoveries are kind of odd; they seem to be level dependent for qualifying. I had been to the Ice Islands before to do the Santa quest (lost the boss fight; haven't been back yet because the parkours was a slog I got through, but not really looking forward to again), but when I went for the Ice Nations quest, I got xp for discovering the new area.
I see areas on the map that leave me head scratching about routes. I see Troms and Jungle Village at lv 55 and 50 respectively, surrounded by higher level stuff. But there is that fast travel that looks like it starts in the corner between Time Valley and Pigman's Ravine. Not sure if that will be a quest, but I suspect so.
I think levelling is likely to slow down for me soon. I really need to address fighting ranged weapon mobs better. I think I should probably hang on to a low level bow I pick up and go to an area where there are a bunch of lower level mobs using ranged weapons and train without guardian angel up. My armor and hp would allow me to take a lot of damage. Getting better about using bombs to work my way down passages or through some areas, but i often slow down too much and get mobs spawning behind me before I have moved far enough.

You are right about the fast travel being a quest. Before completing the quest, the only way to get to the jungle is by crossing the great bridge. Quick tip for crossing the Great Bridge: don't fight the mobs, just run. If you try to fight the mobs at all, you will be dead within seconds. Riding across on a horse also works.

I died on the great bridge when trying to find my way down to the TOA (so I could die there instead). Seems like I end up one of 3 places when I try to go down that way - the great bridge, the surprisingly easy cave or TOA, which has an approach corridor that was very difficult for me, largely because of my insistence on making it on foot the first time I go somewhere new. I have had the experience of barely making it to a town and being worried about being able to get out and back to safer environs. Having the horse as my easier way out helps safeguard me against that. I did get burned slightly from getting ahead of myself in exploring areas. I got a dropped health potion that I couldn't use yet, so I thought I still had some until I needed it.
I hope the quest to open the portal doesn't have ridiculous parkour. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't on my list now and I just don't know it yet.

A quest took me right up near Great Bridge again with direction pointer to Troms. Failed on horseback, but came close. I decided to break my rule about going on horse first after your post about that being really unlikely to work (fighting across on foot). I can see why. I was nearing the far side of the bridge with a health potion at my lips...

and I just realized that not all of the bows of a given name are the same. I thought I had spotted minor differences in listings before. I just found a 2nd Evanescence and while the specs are similar, they are not the same. One is definitely preferable over the other.

@DeltaWave - how does wynnbuilder deal with this?

I am going to use the one on the right. The tiny amount less in walk speed boost is a fine tradeoff for more than double the manna boost, more air damage, less main attack loss. Those aren't insignificant differences.

Wynnbuilder uses the best possible stats of rollable items, which is a funky way of doing it because very rarely will items ever be 100%. Unidentified items have rolls between .3 and 1.3 (not sure on this exactly) of the base stats, each randomized. Some stats are not rollable like skill points, raw elemental defenses, and that top hp amount on armor and accessories.

and I just made it over the great bridge following the beacon for a new mini quest to to slay slimes. I am in Iboju Village, which is not the beacon location, but the first shelter I found. I crossed the bridge by casting guardian angel, then switching to the health potion, pretty much guzzling it all the way across. That's a crazy section. The only other course of action I can think of would be linking Escapes. Hopefully I have an anchor point over here and can do stuff here to level up. I am at 51 and at 52 I can switch to the Evanescence. wynnbuilder shows some improvement when I do that; not a crazy amount, but some.

I like Troms. If you got over here before level 50, it could be an issue. that's the lowest potion sold here, and I needed a lot of it to fill back up. Hanging out here to do some forays levelling up should work.

Hmm... Not in Troms. I did the cave right in town. First "room" is really more a wide spot in the entry tunnel/ramp. Next an open room, then a squeeze and another open room. Patterns seems to repeat. I died twice in the entry to the 2nd true room. The third time I made a break for it and sprinted through a few more into a really big room. Tried to Escape to create some space and drink to my health, but was too near a wall and didn't take enough of them out. So I died again and respawned in Tempo Town. So either the cave is so long with just the right trajectory that I was technically closer to Temp Town, or it kicked me out for dying there too quick. The respawn spot in Troms is way up by the bank and the cave mouth at the base of the tower is a fair distance and looking at the map, it is straight towards Temp Town. Add in the distance I sprinted and fast walked down that cave and I can believe I was a little closer to Tempo Town. Not crazy disappointed; will head back up to the jungle around Olux. I like Troms better; one of my favorite cities, maybe the favorite so far. But the fighting around it is a bit of a stretch. Levelling up and making a few changes will make it more manageable.

My head is hurting again. I am at 52. I got leggings and helmet to up my hp, though the helmet drops xp (no bonus) a little. I actually could equip it sooner, but I kept the other on while I was level up. I found these two ponds in front of farms on the east side of Olux that spawned mobs (najas, or something like that) of just the right strength at just the right rate so that I was constantly keeping an angel up and firing shots and building xp and taking no damage. I went back out with the Evanescent and was shocked to find it seem less effective. I took some damage as I couldn't keep them all from creeping in.

So I ran numbers. I know I did this before and I have only changed armor a little; nothing stands out.
    Anyway, the Thunderbolt:
    https://hppeng-wynn.github.io/builder/#5_0sb0FX06k0IZ0jz0al0qm08C0po0P0S0K060K0q00000zz++++-
    and the Evanescent:
    https://hppeng-wynn.github.io/builder/#5_0sb0FX06k0IZ0jz0al0qm08C0Fk0P0S0U060U0q00000zz++++-
WTH? The Evanescent has a higher listed DPS in the bow summary. The Thunderbolt has the +10% spell damage and +13% spell damage, but that doesn't seem like it would close the gap between 318 and 361, which are the listed DPS of the bows in their summary.
There is obviously still something here I don't understand. This is going from a super fast to a fast bow and believe it or not, I notice the drop off. Hopefully the Infinity at 55 will not be a disappointment. It is also super fast and all of its numbers are in the green. I think my style needs the fastest bows I can get. Slight pickup in walking speed with new armor. Really pleased with that speed. I think I will probably be using the Thunderbolt until 55. Shame I put a couple of t4 powders in the Evanescent. I got a dropped Ozone, which is a rare lv 51 super fast bow and its specs are below the Thunderbird, but it adds 19% to the walk speed. I might carry it as a no limit sprint. Sprinting with it might be faster than my horse. Of course, I can't maintain a sprint. But I should time a run compared to the horse. Might be surprising. But the other point of looking at it is that the Thunderbolt still compares favorably to a lot of lv 50+ bows.

Thanks. I know I got off track (kind of; still keep coming back to all those numbers) and there is a lot of blog like stream of consciousness stuff in there, but I keep getting positive comments, so I have kept at it. Still confused by the current state of what I have. The summary info for the bows (hovering over them in game) seems to favor the Evanescent. Wynnbuilder is more of a split decision. But when the rubber hits the road, or mobs meet my face, the Thunderbolt seems to work better for me. May be my "fire hose of arrows" style of play.
I will do a little off track commentary. Olux is sneaky huge. It's a well guarded giant farming/gathering area with a fairly complete (as far as merchants) village in the middle. From its center, it's almost as far to where you pass the last golums and encounter mobs as Ragni. I wish I knew the deal with the cave and drypt I am prevented from going in. Given reasons for both, but I suspect quests will get me in there at some point. I liked Troms better as a city, but Olux seems more on level for my actual skills right now. And if I feel like pushing it, I can ignore warnings and head out into the dark forest. But I will probably put some miles on the horse and head back down into the Nasaak area also; lots of unfinished business down there. But crossing the great bridge was stupid hard for me. Maybe one of the quests I haven't done yet (there are quite a few) will open the fast travel portal.

A few things: the cave in Olux is used in a quest that requires farming level 20, the crypt is in fact involved in a quest. Also the fast travel to Troms is actually not a portal, and instead is a tunnel between Troms and Pigman ravine. I don't think the quest to unlock it has any parkour, but I may be wrong.

No surprise there; Olux does seem to be all about farming and wood cutting.
Pigman ravine; that figures. It took me a while to do that quest mostly because I kept getting lost. I had half a dozen pigman hides before I realized that was part of the quest. I would just run across it and stop for the xp and the challenge. That cave is set up perfect for the escape spell. Still managed to die in there some. It would probably be a joke now. The map shows it as fast travel, but maybe it is like the mine that gets you to Rymek; a shortcut that is reasonably quick.

I think so, but not sure. Pigman was one of the few places where ranged weapons weren't a big problem. The upcoming mobs are always in sight ahead and easy to pick off. So I can just head up there any time? No quest needed? I will check it out later.
    ________________________________
Any input on my bow quandary? For now, both are in the hot bar and my settings are such that they are switchable without losing any other gear. Evanescent gives me a walk boost that is nice nice for travelling when not using the horse, which I usually do for new areas or when there will be on level mobs to grind along the way. Also makes opening loot chests less problematic. But if I get into a fight where I want my preferred style, Thunderbolt is just a key click away. Health is over 2500 now with latest tweaks.
The 2 builds (everything but the bow is the same).

There is a quest needed. Btw that's probably my least favourite fast travel because the entrance is very deep within the Pigman ravine, so I still get lost.

I need Google maps for Wynncraft. I get turned around and way off course or get close to where I need to be but with an obstruction I need to go way around or underneath or above it in that area south of the desert. I would love a bendy beacon so it is always on screen at the top, angling off to the side unless it is dead ahead.
I will have to check my quest list and wynngps. It must be on there as I have a few things around Troms.
