Why are some NPCs targeted with guardian angel?

Particularly Almuj and Corrupted Village. I am playing boltslinger. Since getting guardian angel ability, I keep one up pretty much all the time in quests and foot travel. It's also turned out to be the best answer for ankle biters like ocelots and endermites that are difficult to kill with arrow shots. A lot of times I never even see them; just hear the hit and see the little xp count notification. So I dearly love guardian angel.

Except around Almuj and Corrupted Village. If I walk into either of those with a guardian angel in force, it starts targeting NPCs. Some animals also; if Nohno is upset that I killed Cluckles, just wait until he goes down in the cellar and finds out all his chickens are dead. NPCs with a game role seem to be immune.

I am level 33 right now. I suspect there are other locations I haven't visited yet where this is also true. It doesn't happen in Ragni, Detlas, Nemract and the other towns around them. Looking at the map, pretty much anywhere in the green part of Wynn is okay

 

I think it shoots everything that is a mob, like even green named mobs which are passive, i dont think it shoots blue names tho which are blue named ones

 

and actually I noticed I was wrong about Nemract; there are a few that get hit. In Almuj it is citizens and in the Corrupted Village it's the "Angry" people. In Tempo Tow, even the homeless mayor, who gives you a quest, is targeted. If on foot, I always have one up in Detlas; it's easy to get a herd of cows to follow you pretty far in without noticing it until you stop and they plow into you. BTW, going back to do Lost Tower was about the silliest one yet. I just walked around until I found the book. I never even saw the necromancer, who I assume is a low level boss.

 

Yeah they target any npc with a health bar other than blue named npcs

 

love it when it targets minions not the actual boss :D
