Boats

How do I use the boats sold by the seaskipper, doesn't seem to allow me to place it down

 

which version do you play?

 

I found a dropped one and have no idea what to do with it. Can I row myself around to islands? It was odd finding it and a bunch of dungeon keys - I now have multiples to several. I am near paranoid about losing things after a couple of bad experiences, so I rarely have more than 3 or 4 items on me until I pick stuff up along the way. All that stuff is sitting in the ender chest now.

I am fairly new; are there different active versions?

 

most people play on 1.12.2,
I have heard that the later versions are stable too but in any case you should be able to place a boat anywhere

 

DOH - I wasn't even thinking of that; I was thinking the server made the difference. I play on latest, though I did try 1.12.2 to run wynntils, but it crashed every few minutes. I have never had a crash in the latest and played many hours here and in Realms and worlds on my machine.
