Helmet Disappeared After Hunger of the Gerts Pt. 1

Has anyone else had this problem? When I left the tunnels after the prison section I was wearing the gert mask and my actual helmet was in my inventory, I know because I tried to put it on while I was in there to fight and it would not let me. I finish the quest and go to put it back on and it's gone, no reason it should have gone out of my inventory, if it did I'm assuming it was IN the prison. I looked around and relogged to refresh my inventory, still not there, any tips to get it back? Or am I just without my helmet now? It was a helmet from a previous quest, something goggles with a dark leather texture so I don't believe I can get a new one :(
