Return Warrior's base defense boost in 2.0

Discussion in 'Wynncraft' started by Verenite, Jun 11, 2022.

?

Should the +20% defense stay for Warrior?

  1. Yes, return it to pre-2.0 values

  2. Increase it to 110% so Paladin archetype returns it to in-line to pre 2.0 warrior

  3. No, it should stay at 100% defense

So 2.0's got a lot of features and changes coming. All these new fancy snazzy abilities and archetypes. However, Warrior has also lost one of its defining features.

Warrior's base defense has gone down from 120% to 100%, the same as Assassins.

I actually really love how the new warrior spells looked from the teasers. As a melee purist, it actually makes me want to try out a hybrid setup. But losing 20% base defense is going to make me a little more cautious...

Additionally, with the DEF/AGI changes (def cap is now ~70% instead of 80%, and agi now only reduces damage by 90% when dodging) means TFA and other warriors have probably lost a lot of survivability. Even going full blast tank Paladin only returns 10% of that to 110%. (although it does gain healing abilities from its archetype).

With warrior being the "hey i'm in your face, deal with it" class, a 20% defense nerf is likely going to hit it hard.

We won't know the real effects yet until the Beta is out, and even then they're very likely going to change things

This was what I was thinking too... hoping this ain’t gonna take the “tank” out of the tanks

The thing I’m most worried about is the def cap decrease though.

Pally has crazy dr now though. Rejuvenating skin and war scream 70% dr thing. It’ll be even more tanky than current if you forget about defensive sp changes (even with just rejuvenating skin).

Plus we haven’t seen the rest of the tree

Warrior inately has 5/5 defense. It shouldn't be restricted to one subclass.

From what I’ve heard you can mix and max to an extent. We don’t know to what extent yet, but I’m assuming at the very least multiclassing into Pally for a few defensive abilities will be possible

It's too early to judge whether it needs it or not, as we have only seen teasers (and salted's awful gameplay) and haven't gotten to test out anything nor see the entirety of the skill tree.
Personally, I believe the skill tree will compensate for the lost defense, either in other defensive means or by trading defense for offense.

    And that ^
Though because ability points are limited, multi-classing would obviously block you off from some of the abilities at the very end of the skill tree, so it's going to need careful planning.
