Guide Your faithful guide to the Dernel Jungle 50-90 Grindspot

Recently, a friend of mine was looking for lvl 50 Grindspots, and in his search, he found a cave located in the Dernel Jungle, which he used from lvl 50 up to 90.

It isn't completely unknown, as I have seen others use it on occasion, but it's obscure enough (and amazing enough) that I am making this post.
It is called Mimic Cave because of well, the mob you kill for xp!

Tl;dr I haven't seen people talk of this cave enough so I am sharing it.

Spoiler: The Grindspot

The cave is located at X/-592 Z/-609
There are quite a few kinds of mobs there, all of them are pretty tanky and pack a punch, especially if you're lower level, but the mob you should look out for is the "Flying Gold Mimic"


When this mob is killed, it spawns many "Liquid Level" mobs, which are the real deal.


These herds of liquid levels give an insane amount of xp when killed. (~5000 per mob on lvl 75)
Flying Gold Mimic spawns ~5-7 of them, and the Flying Gold Mimic spawns very frequently.

I got from level 67 to 75 in slightly over an hour in this spot, without a bomb or a mob totem.
Beyond 75, it's still extremely efficient, it starts dying down a bit around 90, and then scrapyard is the better option.

Now grinding here with dxp would be something even greater than herb cave; add in hunted and an xp bonus build, and you'll get to 90 in no time.


But the other mobs there, the "Defiled Envoy" get in your way a lot, they're infuriating.
Worry not, I have brought you a simple yet effective strategy to turn this cave into a harmless xp farm!

Step 1. Go inside the cave, and hoard all the hostile mobs that target you.
Step 2. Without killing any of them, make them follow you to the outer cave and cave entrance (see pictures below)
Step 3. Use your movement spell to quickly go back to the inner cave so you can farm the gold mimics. Be very quick, so you can be sure to lose aggro. Assassins can just vanish and go inside easily, but archers will suffer.

Simply put that is basically "taking the mobs hostage"
There is a certain mob cap for their type, and by driving them off and keeping them alive (without wandering off too far) none will respawn in the cave because there's already the maximum number of them.
Though after a while, they start despawning and respawning in the cave, and when that happens you just need to repeat what you did before and you're good again.

Now the inner cave will have nothing but the gold mimics, and they will keep respawning after you kill them. It becomes a harmless cave! (I am literally typing this while chilling in the cave)

Though I labeled it as 50-90, I advise that you use it from 60 or 70 to 90 because getting to it may be a little difficult, and gold mimics would take a long time to kill.

you can lure all the dia armor zombies to the entrance of the cave or further, then instantly movement spell away

or if you're a chad you can just kill them

 

I wonder if I can grind here at level 40...

Is leading the mobs away like exploitation? It seems very... Unallowed

 

You can call it that, but it's not a bug nor is it harmful. If it's unintended behaviour, it will get changed eventually. Besides, people have been doing it for a long while, and no one has batted an eye.
