WynnCraft Lore & Theorizing - The Nameless Anomaly's Place in the WynnCraft World

ATTENTION: This thread has heavy spoilers to the current endgame of WynnCraft. If you don't want this spoiled, please don't read further!

    - Introduction -
Hi everyone! With Wynn's recent and incredible trailer for the next update, officially called "WynnCraft 2.0" (albeit I prefer 1.21), a new and mysterious entity has been introduced to us called the Nameless Anomaly. This freakish being of seemingly Dernic origin resembles a giant half-skeleton, and as of now that's about all we know.
I've always been into the lore of the games I play, so today I'd like to do a little theorizing with the community. Of course, what we actually know about the Anomaly is pretty much unknown, but I'd love to take my best shot! Today here, I'll be talking about the Nameless Anomaly and what I think it'll do. I invite everyone who has an idea to participate as well!

    - Overview and Recap -
Towards the end of the Spellbound trailer, what seems to be a portal is shown. This portal bears remarkable resemblance to Light's Secret, aka the Light Portal. It looks nearly identical, looking pretty much like a darker, more sinister recolor of the original Light Portal. Upon the camera panning into it, we are greeted with the text: "New Raid: The Nameless Anomaly". Several scenes later, a shot of a hole in a dark cave wall is shown before a horrifying skeletal creature bursts from the hole. It has long, slender, deep blue arms, a ribcage that protects a bright blue core, a human shaped skull and white eyes. The skeleton's head then seems to disconnect from its jaw in a manner very similar to the default Minecraft's Enderman.
This is all we are shown from the trailer. Heading over to Wynn's Spellbound website, a little more can be learned.
Slightly more information is given about this raid. This raid is titled "The Nameless Anomaly" and is level 104. It is located in the Silent Expanse. Additionally, under this section of the webpage, numerous images are provided, including a picture of the strange skeletal creature and the portal that was shown in the trailer. The image is a little bit low quality, but in one of the images, the skeletal creature has a nametag. To me, its name is not readable, however it is clearly labelled as Level 250, the same level as Orphion.
That's all we know for absolute sure. Into theories!

    - Is Dern Finally Here? -
I only joined the server last year, but I looked at a few of Wynn's past trailers and their update logs for this. I gained a core piece of knowledge from this: Wynn usually tends not to list EVERYTHING about their updates within their trailers. Well, yes, trailers in general don't do this, but Wynn tends to leave out core pieces of information so there's still more big content to discover once the update is actually released. Because of this, I think it's plausible we may actually be getting Dern itself, we just weren't told. Here's why I think that!
In specifically the first and second shots within the trailer, we are shown two shots of a large piece of land currently not known. This land looks dark and ominous, being gray, purple and blue under a moonlit sky. A few warped trees dot this landscape, however, to me at least, the trees in these scenes are actually quite telling.
In the second shot of the trailer, there is a tree almost directly in front of the camera. It looks similar to some other trees around the area, but something stands out about it: The base of the trunk is blue, specifically made prismarine blocks. Those of you who spent a lot of time within the Silent Expanse might recognize this feature: The trees within the Eyeball Forest are the same. They start with the same prismarine color around their base. It's possible that the trailer tree may be a tree "native" to Dern, if the image shown was Dern, of course.
Going in reverse order here, in the very first shot of the trailer, a much much larger tree is shown with some vibrant colors around its base. This tree looks suspiciously similar to the tree found within the Realm of Light, a giant tree visible from almost anywhere within its realm. Provided your render distance can reach that far, of course.
Lastly, in the background of this same shot, strange purple plants are shown growing near and behind the giant tree. These are chorus plants within vanilla Minecraft, and these strange plants can also be seen growing in numerous places in the Silent Expanse, specifically the Eyeball Forest and the Toxic Wastes.
The realm shown within the scenes in the trailer has multiple instances of plantlife that are only found in the Silent Expanse, and both the Realm of Light and this area house a monolithic tree. We're on track for something here!
Well, not quite. It is mentioned that this new raid will be found within the Silent Expanse, but compared to the rest of the map of Wynn, the Silent Expanse is actually fairly small. Raids in Wynn typically do have rather grand entrances to them, and I feel like the Silent Expanse doesn't really have space to place down a raid somewhere within the Expanse. Maybe, just maybe, we're getting a new biome to the Silent Expanse?
Well, I think that's not the case. When you look at any version of Wynn's map, it appears the developers are trying very hard to keep the map rectangular in shape. There's a large empty space in the bottom left corner of the map, but due to multiple pieces of evidence it seems that Fruma will eventually be placed here in the future. If Fruma is placed here, this makes the map perfectly rectangular. If the developers want to keep it this way, they do not have room to expand the Silent Expanse outwards, and due to the Expanse's snake-like path, there simply isn't room for a space as big as what was shown in the trailer to be squeezed somewhere into the Expanse, or rather, anywhere on the map. I believe this rules out the possibility of the shots shown in the trailer to be somewhere within Wynn's Overworld map, rather in a new dimension.
So, this leads us to the portal.
This portal clearly functions somehow. The Dern portal at the back of the Expanse does not. I admit I do not have a definite conclusion as to where this portal goes. I don't think they're REPLACING the Dern portal with this portal, as the Dern portal is a very dramatic and defining feature of the WynnCraft map. This portal houses the infamous ??? NPC used in a Hunter's Calling, it adds lore to the game by the area around the portal breaking off and drifting into the Void. The Eldritch Outlook is GUARDING this portal, and of course, removing the Dern portal and replacing it with more solid ground, like Light's Secret, would leave the v e r y m u c h l o v e d Panic Zealot without a home. There is a bit to add to this however: The lore of the Dern portal does say that the portal cannot be accessed YET. I still don't think this portal will be changed within this update, though.
Wherever this portal IS, however, I believe is a bit more concrete. In a lot of content related to the Nameless Anomaly, small holes are seen in the background of the area, namely the portal the skeletal creature comes out of in the trailer, the platform in which the skeletal creature is on in the website, and what the developers are looking into in the same webpage section. These holes look identical to the Void Holes found within the Void Valley, so I at least believe that this portal will be located somewhere within the Void Valley. With that, it's possible that the skeletal creature is not Dernic in origin, and maybe originates from somewhere within the Void itself. It is likely that the same is true of the Panic Zealot, as it is mostly believed the Panic Zealot is the result of a shaman's Relik item being dropped into the Void, and being warped by the Void to turn into the Panic Zealot itself. This is supported by the fact that the Zealot's general body structure resembles the "default" wooden Relik model, and the fact the Zealot drops this same modeled item on death.
Hell, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the Dern portal will just suddenly turn on this update and we could go to Dern, and the Nameless Anomaly will exist separately in the Expanse.
That's all the stuff I feel I can say with certainty. I believe that the images shown of new land within the trailer are accessed through the portal somewhere, and I believe this portal will be within the Expanse's Void Valley. To be honest, I'm just not sure how this portal will function. It could finally be the functioning Dern portal, hidden within the Valley, the parallel to Light's Secret: Dark's Secret. Or, it could just be an entrance to a raid lobby. We don't know, and we won't know for a few more months.

    - The Raid and the Creature -
A lot of what I had to say revolved around Dern itself, as I sort of believe the creature showing itself in the trailer may be the harbinger to Dern. Now, it's time to focus on the creature.
Well, we know for a fact that the new raid coming in the next update is called "The Nameless Anomaly". The reason I keep referring to the creature as "the creature" is because we don't actually know what this creature is called. Much like the Canyon Colossus, I originally believed that the raid was named after it and the creature WAS called the Nameless Anomaly. You'd be right to believe that too, but only those who paid close attention would know otherwise.
Again, in the screenshot of the creature on Wynn's website, the name of the creature is illegible (to me at least), but I can say with certainty that its nametag is too short to read "The Nameless Anomaly" or even "Nameless Anomaly". I can't tell for sure, but like some other text in Wynn, its name appears to be obscured or different. I don't think its name is standard A-Z English, and because of this we don't actually know what the creature is called. That doesn't mean that it IS nameless though, as EVERY creature in the game has a name. Even if this WAS the Nameless Anomaly, its name WOULD BE "The Nameless Anomaly".
As Wynn's website suggests, it seems set in stone that this creature will be the boss of the Anomaly raid. It exists on its own in its screenshot, there's only one, and it shows up in both the trailer and the website, and under the Anomaly section of the website. This is DEFINITELY the boss of the raid.
...After all, a boss add wouldn't be level 250.
    I hope.
It's very possible that the creature is Dernic in origin, but remember it is still possible that it is not. The large amount of Void Holes surrounding it may mean that the creature is coming from the Void itself. I for one still believe that the creature is from Dern but one thing is almost certain: This is NOT the Dern Beast.
Many of you know Orphion is the Light Beast, the physical incarnate of Light within the world of Wynn. It is stated many times, too, that there IS a Dark/Dern Beast, but this beast is never seen in full body.
From my memory, we see portions of what is BELIEVED to be the Dern Beast exactly twice within the story of Wynn. In the ultimate discovery "Silent Expanse's Secret", Bak'al is seen approaching a large, dark figure, and we are seeing from that creature's point of view. In this cutscene, the creature rips out one of its own eyes with its claws, giving it to Bak'al. This eye was then carried by Bak'al to the top of what is now the Eldritch Outlook and planted there, becoming THE Eye within Wynn. Of course, there is no confirmation that the creature that the Eye is from IS the Dern Beast, but it is heavily suggested and can be assumed. The Eye is VERY important within the lore of Wynn and it is even seen behind Wynn's logo nearly constantly, so the chance that the Eye is just from some random Dernic creature is nearly impossible. It is safe to assume that the Eye is from the Dern Beast, and if that is true, this would leave the Dern Beast missing at least one eye. The skeletal creature from the Anomaly has two and doesn't appear to have any empty eye sockets on the front of its head, which is where the Dern Beast's eye was torn from. The creature cannot be the Dern Beast.
This itself leaves great speculation as to where the creature sits within Wynn's lore. The bosses of all 3 raids currently have a very strong place within Wynn's lore. The Grootslangs threaten to devour all the land of the swamp and possibly beyond if they are not contained. Orphion may darken from the Parasite and spiral into Darkness, allowing the the Realm of the Light, the Light Forest and Gavel to decay as a whole. The Canyon Colossus is going haywire, and if not contained holds enough power to shatter the very laws of reality within the Canyon of the Lost, potentially sending the entire canyon tumbling into the Void's infinite abyss. The chance that the skeletal creature from the Nameless Anomaly is just some random, interdimensional beast here to "destroy the Earth" is slim. If that was the case, it feels too generic. There has to be a reason why the Nameless Anomaly formed, a reason important to Wynn's lore.
That being said, we arrive at the actual raid itself.
The raid is titled "The Nameless Anomaly", and in it a group of 4 level 104+ players will team up to challenge and fight the skeletal creature. We know mechanic-wise that this is a raid, but we still do not know where this raid even takes place. Sure, the entrance to the raid will be within the Expanse, but where is the raid itself?
I at least believe the entrance to this raid will be located within Dern or the Silent Expanse, and if in the Expanse, the Void Valley. As for the raid itself, I believe the raid will be taking place within Dern.
During the trailer, we are shown two clips of players fighting in a location that appears Dernic or Void-ish in origin. The first clip is players fighting in what is almost sure to be the area I talked about prior in the second shot of the trailer, with the text "A BULB HAS BEEN TAKEN!" briefly displaying on the screen. The player then attacks a mob called "Bulb Catcher", being shown to be level 150 a few seconds later. Secondly, a few shots later, players are seen fighting a mob that resembles a vertical Void Hole, called "Despairing Crawler" and possessing around 480,000 HP on a third of its max HP. These levels and amounts of HP are raid-level, of course, I don't believe any mob in the Silent Expanse, aside mobs in the Outlook and the Panic Zealot, possess more than 200,000 HP, unless you count the annoying horse "Rekindled Insurmountable" you run into during loot runs. Something happens somewhere in the raid to end the players in a floating abyss in the Void, fighting the skeletal creature by themselves.
Again, I could still be wrong. Maybe we aren't getting Dern. The first clip of players fighting in the trailer is clearly the area at the beginning of the trailer, and perhaps this area is just a raid setting or a place that can only be accessed within raids.
Other than that, I'm flat out of ideas, and I've been writing for about 2 hours.

    - Conclusion -
That about wraps this up! Sorry for this being novel-length, but as I mentioned I'm crazy about lore, love to write and I'm just very very excited for the next update. Of course, I tried my best to predict what'll be coming up, but again I don't think anything I said is 100% accurate. I do not know what this update will bring.
That's all, and thank you for reading if you got this far! If you'd like to contribute, feel free to do so. What do you think WynnCraft 2.0 will bring?

So, amazing post first off, glad to see another lore fan.

Here's my thoughts abt the lore aspect of the raid.
So currently there are 4 "forces" in wynn's power struggle
The light who is the polar opposite of the Dark, these two fight
The corruption who is created from light and dark clashing, but isnt controlled by either
    And the void.
I think the Void is the absence of both Light and dark. Its the opposite of corruption. The void more or less is the outside entity of the Light/dark family. It exists and that's it, more embodied chaos. Dern has a pattern and reasoning to it (took over SE and held it in order to setup the eye as a control point in wynn ((SE ultamte disc)). Where the void just does things spontaneously. Like creating the zealot, and all the weirdness of the void fields. I think the raid boss is the sudo "embodiment" of void. Like how Bak'al is the "embodiment" of corruption. Void lives in both sky islands and SE, not just dern.

Diffrent tangent, I think I know how to answer your question of where the raid will be. Its said that its in the SE, however I think its in the Void fields(1000m under quest), or at least it extends to the SE. I think the Void fields are a separate world that exists underneath wynn(kinda like a cavern but made of void space), with the main places of access being sky islands and SE. It would make sense as this raid is definitely void themed rather than dernic.

If we look at 1.20 trailer, Orphion was the main highlight of 1.20. The entire update revolved around him more or less, because he is a main lore figurehead and this released his raid. Equally I think that Dern will be like 1.20, its own realm will be released with the trailer being focused on Dern's beast. This update is new combat (awesome) and some cool ingame addons so this isnt just a rework update this no new content. This update adds a brand new and highly needed class system and combat change. With the addons being a new dungeon and raid to keep the game fresh and fun.

The timeline I think Wynn is currently taking is this

    1.19 - SE/ road to dern.
1.20 - Gavel rework and ROL raid
2.1 (new update) - game rework and VOID added features
2.2 - Fruma and our backstory (probls lv 60-80 ish)
2.3 - Dern, dernic beast final battle (this ends the storyline.)

My thinking is that the dernic update will be the last, as us the player, have completed our duty. We eliminate the threat to wynn and restore a balance between light and dark, we found our past and whatever happens in fruma, we traveled the known world and did what we could to balance it (good or bad). Dern can also be seen lvl wise as the last boss we fight. lvl 1-30 freeing wynn from corruption, 40-70 freeing gavel from decay, 80-100 helping restore the sky islands/molten hights/corkus, 100+ finishing the war we declared on dern.

This is all my thoughts and speculation, but I think most of it has some good backing if you look at the lore connections you made and the other aspects of the lore :D

    TLDR:
This isnt the dernic beast/dern update, its a void boss
Raid is probably in the void fields.
we still have like 2 updates till dern

I also believe that the boss is in the Void
however, I'm pretty certain Void is not a force. It's simply an empty space, an absence of everything. Stuff that falls in the Void undergoes some pretty weird shit, but that's all. Nothing originates from Void.

It can also be deduced that there could be many more forces and Beasts in the universe, however, these three are the only relevant ones.

Interesting on the whole, but I have to nitpick on something so here's this:

The raid is level 105, not 104. You gain your last spell upgrade at 104, but the raid is 105

Guy & Raid are just straight nameless. Bulb Catcher is level 125. Corruption is embodied chaos. Void & Dern made The Zealot (also yes it is just a relik). The raid is level 105.
The Void is also not beneath the world, it's the space between worlds. Usually it's very empty, however thanks to The Colossus and The War of The Realms, bits of land have fell into void tears (creating the area you explore at level 95) and landmasses have broken off from the bigger 'islands' (realities), which you can find to be drifting in the endless gray void ocean in A Journey Further, An Otherworldly Occurrence, and Space Between Realities.
That aside, good theory. Some more stuff to feed it is that there's a mob called Void Grub you can see in the trailer, as well as a Gather objective needing 5 Void Matter.
    ________________________________
Concurred. The Void is without influence, however there is stuff naturally in it. Think of it like space. Most of space is empty, however there are planets (realms & realities), and at one point, all of this was way closer together than it is now (big bang or whatever) but dark matter/energy (war of the Realms) has pushed it all away. Void naturally has our world and other worlds in it, but the actual like, soup - The void soup - doesn't seem to naturally have anything else in it, to our current knowledge.

Main problem with Dern being added is that I don't think the devs would have had time to make both the combat system and a new province in the time they've had. Also, Dern's probably going to be large enough to warrant an entire update, if it get's released now, the hype's going to be overshadowed by the new combat. My best guess is that it's 3 updates away: 1 for Dern itself, one for Fruma, and one for another big rework (Wynn v2 when) .
