Scrolls combined into 1 potion

I was just crafting scrolls to level up the scribing skill and then when I left the scribing table due to all crafting slots being full, my scrolls combined into 1 potion of healing with 30 uses. I tried it out thinking it was bugged and it worked. After that, I crafted 2 new scrolls to test if it would happen again and in chat the message "One less powerful potion was replaced to open space for the added one" appeared. Was this always in the game or did they add it with the latest updates? (Haven't played for a couple of months)

 

crafted scrolls which dont have any ingredients used act like a health potion since its basically the same thing

 

I know that but what surprised me was that they combined into 1 potion

 

if you dont want it, right-click the potion in your inventory and remove them

 

I was just surprised that this happened and wondered when they added this feature
