Lore/Story The Defense of Rockslide Camp & Berbun's Last Stand

During the Great Berben War many Berbs were injured, as their main camp was located far from the battlefield those who could't fight were taken into Rockslide Camp, a camp located between Dark Forest and Gerten Fortress. That's where they were being treated.

However, as the war was going on the Berbs lost good chunk of their north territory. One day their defense was broken and an army of Gerts were marching towards the Rockslide Camp, ready to slaughter those who couldn't even fight.

"A good defense is a great offense!"

"I left them to die but their pain is not what I fear, Im afraid that I don't feel much sadness."

"Captain! Our scouts just came back! It seems that over 300 gerts are coming! We won't be able to evacuate the injured in time, what do we do?"
The soldier was clearly terrified, he knew that their small squad couldn't handle the incoming horde. Yet, none of Berbun's people deserted, they all decided to fight until the end.
"Soldier, are the exposives ready?"
Berbun was expecting that Gerts will manage to get through their forces on the west so he made a plan B.
"Yes sir!"
"Great, order all of our troops to help the injured and get out of here."
Soldier was confused, how could they even think about escaping if the horde was just behind them? It was a death sentence, yet Berben fighter decided to trust Berbun, he was already behind some major wins in this war.

20 minutes later...

"Captain, we put all of our immobile people onto carts, we are ready to leave."
"Great, go through Dark Forest to our fortress, if you are fast enough you will get there before dark creatures start coming out."
It was second time Berbun suprised the soldier that thay and this time he had a question to his captain.
"Sir, but what about you?"
"Im staying here, if the horde destroys this camp with no effot they will know they can attack our southen territories. But Im not going to let you all die either. This time I will stand on the battlefield alone. Now go, I don't know for how long my death will slow them."
And with that everyone else left the camp. Few would die in the Dark Forest but thanks to Berbun's sacrifice nearly all of them survived.

Few minutes later...

Berbun was standing outside the Rockslide camp and army of Gerts was getting closer and closer with every minute. The Gerts started running towards him as he pulled out his weapon, a dagger. But the Gerts at the front never clashed their weapons with him. The explosives Berbun ordered earlier were connected to a pressure plate and a very unlucky Gert activated it. This resulted in a massive explosion is said to have killed at least 20 Gerts, their blood was everywhere, even on Berbun. He looked up to the sky and then stared at surviving Gerts. Then he pulled out his second weapon, a small axe, as it was time for him to rush into the horde.
Soon their weapons clashed, the great Berben captain was slashing through Gerten bodies, parts of them were laying everywhere. Suddenly he felt a knife being pushed into his leg. The Gert who did that got their head chopped off just 3 seconds later. Berbun was fighting like a beast, more and more Gerts were dying. Eventually however he was surrounded by Gerts from every side, there was no escape. A massive Gert crushed Berbun's left arm, his axe fell to the ground. With his remaining strength he still managed to defend himself for few precious minutes. Yet, he eventually perished after killing over 3/4 of the Gerten forces.

The remains of the Gerten horde decided to not follow escaping Berbs. After what they saw they were too scared.

Those who were being treated at the Rockslide camp and are still alive keep thanking Berbus for Berbun, his sacrifice shall not be forgotten.
