    Hi,

Seems that (without any fanfare) sometime in the past 24h a change was pushed that removed what I'm calling the "quick-id" feature of item identifiers that allowed you to exit the menu to instantly identify items without waiting. Now the player is locked into waiting for another animation (unskippable cutscene flashbacks) (oh wait they still exist) while identifying their items...

Seems like not everyone knew that this feature existed but it was a very nice quality of life upgrade that will be missed if this isn't reverted re-implemented.

    Please revert re-implement ty

edit: changed title. should this be moved to suggestions?

it is a tactic for player retention. since it takes longer for a necessary part of the game. players will play for longer. crazy.

Unless it's needed to prevent a game-breaking exploit or something I do not understand why there needs to even be a mini-cutscene each time. I get that it's probably there to hype up new players and show them that something cool is happening (which was definitely the case when I first saw it) but now that I've identified my 64583th item it's gotten stale.

we've pushed a fixed-up item identifier because of a bug going around where people could steal GUI elements from it.

the new one actually has specific protections against crashes and restarts, the old one didn't. the animation is now unskippable but is much safer and less abusable

You have 28 possible inventory slots, and one of them is taken up by your weapon, so at most this is adding 8-9 seconds to a commute to town.

I mean it is probably way less of an inconvenience than people make it out to be, but at least for me and I know a lot of other people it feels super long and annoying. It would be a nice QOL thing if this change were reverted although if it brings new protections with it I guess it’s alright. I still would prefer it be reverted though

we're low key spoiled if we've come to arguing over a singular 2 second animation
(but i still would prefer it reverted if that was a possibility? idk if it'd get reverted if its better this way. Only reason for us to get old id'ing back is if we complain an ungodly amount)

This was calculated accounting for the max possible amount of identifications you can do in one trip, which is 4, since the identifier has 8 slots. 8*4=32, so since you've got 28 inventory slots the most identifications you can do is 4 per trip to town, and since it's around a 2 second animation, that means it's adding at most 8-9 seconds to your trip based on how fast you click away from it once your items are identified. It's not going to affect your efficiency in the slightest.

this is the kind of thing people will complain about for a little until they realize it's not worth it and just move on while the feature stays for game stability. In other words just writing this right here is a waste of time what am I doing...

I don't mind the ID animation being mandatory that much, but sometimes I just want to identify items and sell them to the blacksmith as fast as possible. I know you just have to wait a bit for the animation, but it'll mess with a lot of people's muscle memory and will be looked down upon. Buuut, if it's for the stability of the game, I guess it's alright.
