I think Wynncraft should be it’s own game separate from Minecraft.

I’ve heard the arguments for why this is a bad idea, but I have yet to hear anyone bring up one specific thing. What if (God Forbid), for some unforeseeable reason in the far future. Minecraft gets completely shut down. Like no longer playable at all by anyone ever. Wynncraft would also die. There have been a few games in the past that I absolutely loved that I can no longer play because the developers just decided to shut it down and I would hate if that happened to Wynncraft.

 

Realistically, wynn itself is more likely to shut down before minecraft.
The sad truth about any online games or servers is that they will always shut down at some point, and you’ll just have to live with it.
Wasting time on remaking wynn from the ground up as its own game won’t change that.

On a more positive note: I don’t see wynn, and especially not minecraft, shuttling down any time soon. You probably have years and years of more wynn content to play, and as of now I wouldn’t worry about it shutting down.

Also it’s just not feasible in any way, shape, or form; in addition to literally recoding the entire game from scratch from using a new engine, the server will definitely lose a chunk of the player base from being carried over.

Hypixel is the only server that could attempt something like that because it’s the biggest and most successful Minecraft server on the block for years. And even then, they’re still having trouble with getting their new game launched after years after the initial announcement trailer. It might not even make it to release or immediately flop afterwards.

 

I think Hytale had a chance when it was first announced- minecraft was "dying" and it seemed like a breath of fresh air. Not only that, but the teasers showed much more beautiful worlds than what Minecraft had. However, they took so much time making it that it gave Mojang a chance to start introducing huge new updates to the game that make it so much better and on top of that, Pewdiepie played minecraft which "revived" it and his popularity led to Dream's success, which, as much as I somewhat hate to admit it, has helped minecraft gain so much more popularity. Nowhere near as much as what it saw in 2012, but a LOT of popularity regardless. I think when Hytale releases, it will go okay for like a week, then it will drop players, and after about 2-3 months the game will be dead

You can see that Hytale peaked when it was first announced and was searched more than Minecraft at the time. This was because, as I recall, all the minecraft youtubers were like "oh dude forget minecraft heres hytale we will still do minecraft sometimes but we probably move here lol"

Hytale is slowly dying more and more, it's probably doomed. I will honestly be surprised if it actually does well and becomes a competitor to Minecraft when it releases

I know this thread is about the concept of Wynn becoming its own game though so I will also add something to that topic:

If Wynn became its own game it would do worse than Hytale. Hytale is made by Hypixel, the biggest server in minecraft, and the concept of the game is slowly dying more and more. Hypixel averages like 60000 players and Wynn averages like 1000. Unless Wynn suddenly gained a ton of players before such a change were to be made then maybe but it would probably still fail even then. Plus, the cons outweigh the pros to making Wynn a seperate game.

 

What if it's a fan game? It wouldn't be nearly as big a challenge if some people just tried to make a sidescroller or something

Trying to suggest Hytale is going to be unsuccessful because it's less popular than Minecraft is, misleading. Thanks for telling me how to use it, this is actually more in my point's favor.

Either way, Comparing any video game to Minecraft is misleading, because it's the most popular game ever made, and a game's benchmark for success or whether or not it's doomed shouldn't be taken from how it compares to Minecraft. Here's a bunch of games that are randomly selected by asking my friends for a random game (I added Fallout because I like Fallout) None of them compare to Minecraft at all, with the expectation of a few spikes.

 

Yeah, well I think in the long run, they probably aren't going to do anything to it's closer to lunch.
I'm not trying to say Hytale will be successful, but I am trying to say that suggesting its benchmark for success is Minecraft isn't the correct thing to do,
When comparing literally any game to Minecraft, they look unsuccessful, because it's Minecraft.

Also not trying to say Wynncraft would be successful as its own game either, just disagree with the actual information presented.
