The Mage Class is a pretty easy class to use and not that difficult to play as. The mage has the worst damage out of any other classes but however has the best spells out of any class. If you haven’t guessed it already most of playing as a mage has to do with casting spells or spellspam.
The mage class also has an armor rating of 80% which means you take 20% more damage than the assassin which has a base rating of 100%.
The Mage unlocks it’s first spell, the heal spell at level 1. This spell can heal other players around you as well as getting rid of negative effects at higher levels. Because of this spell, mages are usually used as healers in grind parties or dungeon parties.

The next spell that mage has is teleport. This spell teleports the user 10-20 blocks forward and is very useful for moving around the map quickly. The teleport spell can be upgraded to damage mobs you teleport through at higher levels. The teleport spell can also be used to fly around the map if you have the right gear such as a warp.

The third spell is the mages primary damage spell, meteor. Meteor is a spell that makes a meteor fall from the sky dealing a lot of aoe damage and can be casted from a distance. The meteor spell can be upgraded to deal more damage and increase the radius of the aoe damage. If your play style
is a spellspam mage you’ll be relying on meteors a lot for damage.

The fourth and final spell that you’ll unlock as a mage is ice snake. Ice snake is a move that slows down and damages enemies for a short amount of time. Ice snake can be upgraded to later freeze enemies and control the path of the ice snake using your cursor. Ice snake isn’t a move that you’ll rely on all the time considering many lategame mobs have crowd control immunity making them immune to the slowness but the slowness if useful for making sure your meteors hit your targets.
Spellspam is playstyle that rely’s on spells for doing damage. For most of your playthrough as a mage you’ll be relying on spells for damage. The benefit of being a spellspam mage is that you can do something called spellcycling or spellchaining which is like a combo in a fighting game but you’re using a certain combination of spells to deal a bunch of damage to an enemy. Spellchainig is really simple to learn once you’ve unlocked all of your spells and gotten the hang of when to use them which is around level 30-40.

The second type of playstyle is melee which rely’s on mage’s melee damage. Since mage’s melee damage is the worst in the game, you’ll need a good build do do even a decent amount of damage so I wouldn’t recommend relying completely on melee damage until you’re around level 80-90 when you’re able to afford a good build.

For levels 1-11 there best way to get experience is to grind mobs on the emerald trail until you reach level 5. Once you reach level 5 you can try to grind at the beneath the roots secret discovery or do the beneath the sewers quest to unlock the decrepit sewers and do the dungeon over and over again until you reach level 11. This early on in the game there’s no definitive guide on what to do as it usually passes by really fast.
For level 1-11, in terms of what wand to get, anything will do as long as it deals a decent amount of damage. For armor, anything from the armor merchant in ragni will do. For this early on in the game you try to gain as much health as possible. For accessories anything will suffice.
For levels 12-21 you should grind the pigman overlord in the pigman ravines near the south exit of Ragni until you reach level 21 if you want to take a different route, you can grind the pigman overlord until you are level 15 and then do the arachnids ascent quest to challenge the infested pit dungeon.
For levels 12 to 21, like earlier any wand will be good enough but some good wands you might come across for this level range would be the Ancient Wand or the Reticence. For armor anything from the armor merchant in Detlas should be good enough. Like before you’ll want to aim to get as much health from armor as possible. For accessories anything will be fine however for a bracelet you’ll want to use two pieces or morph-topaz as the so boost and skill points are very useful.
For levels 22-31 you should grind the mount Wynn spiders near the entrance to the infested pit. These spiders don’t really pose a threat until you kill them and they split into 5 smaller mobs. Your best bet is to use your aoe attack once they turn into these mobs as it will most likely kill 90% of them before they touch you.
In terms of what wand to get for this level range, a notable wand is the Detlas Legacy. In terms of gear anything from the armor merchant in Nemract should be good enough. In terms of accessories you should still be using the tow morph-topaz rings and any kind of bracelets or necklaces will be good enough
For levels 32-40 you should be grinding at the pyramid grind spot in the Almuj desert. The mobs here are weak to 3 elements so it shouldn’t be that hard to kill them. If you don’t like this grind spot that much you can grind here until you are level 35 and try and challenge the sand swept tomb dungeon. This dungeon has a lot of parkour in it and you can tend to get split up a lot if in a party but the dungeon is fun nevertheless.
For levels 32-40, some notable wands for this level range are the waves raiser or the broken harp as the water damage from these wands are very useful since most desert mobs have a water weakness. In terms of what armor to use you should be using a full adventurer set as the xp bonus and skill points it gives at that level are very useful. In terms of accessories you should still be using the tow morph-topaz rings and any kind of bracelets or necklaces will be good enough
For level 41-50, you’ll want to grind at the Levigar spiders grind spot until you are level 45. Once you reach level 45 you’ll want to check partyfinder or go on the wynncraft discord to find a herb cave party to grind at. For this level range you’ll want to grind the mobs with about 2k health at the upper level of the cave. The mobs may pack a punch especially the ones outside of that cave so that’s why it’s good to grind in a party so you can get some help killing the mobs with the addition of free mob totems and exp bombs. The levigar spiders grind spot isn’t that great so if you want you can try to grind at herb cave from level 40 but it might be harder.
For levels 41-50, some wands you’ll want to use would be the magicant as it’s a really good rainbow damage weapon and dual wield sage as it’s the best xp wand in the game so you can get an extra xp boost if you’re holding it while grinding mobs or if you’re at the end of a dungeon.
In Terms of armor you’ll still want to be using the adventurer set and in terms of accessories you should still be using the two morph-topaz rings and any kind of bracelets or necklaces will be good enough
This level range is pretty boring and most of it will be spent grinding the embers at the lower level of herb cave. These mobs have 5k health so you’ll want to strafe around them in a circle and spamming meteors and your melee attack to kill them. It’s also great to do this in a party because of the so boost and the free dxp and mob totems.
For this level range you’ll still want to use the magicant until you reach level 55 and get the Olux’s Prize Wand which is a quest reward so if you don’t want to do the quest you can wait until level 59 to get a Cerid’s Dynamo. In terms of what armor you’re going to want, you’ll be dropping the adventures set for a different set(morph gold, morph iron, Any chestplate, any helmet, morph topaz, morph topaz, any bracelet, any necklace). In terms for accessories you should still try to use two morph-topazes and whatever bracelet and necklace you can get.
For this level range you’ll want to continue grinding the embers at herb cave until level 65 and then you’ll spend the time leveling up from level 65-70 either doing the galleons graveyard dungeon or doing the corrupted decrepit sewers with a dungeon party at the forgery.
In this level range you’ll want to continue to use the Cerid’s Dynamo or the Olux’s Prized Wand. In terms of armor you can continue to go down the morph set path and get (morph gold, morph iron, millennium, any helmet(blue mask at level 68), morph gold, morph gold, dragon eye bracelet, morph ruby) or you can use the aquamarine set which is a good spellspam build for level 65
For levels 71-80 you’ll want to do the corrupted dungeons from whatever dungeons suggested level up your closest to (for example if your level 75 and the corrupted infested pit is suggested level 74, do the corrupted infested pit) or grinding at the waterfall or silverfish cave with a grind party because the mobs at these grind spots pack a punch and are hard to grind solo.
For levels 71-80 you’ll want to be using an Ethereal wand as this wand will carry you until level 90-100 so it’s good to put some t4 water powders on it. In terms of armor if you want to continue to go down the morph set route you can use this build (morph gold, morph iron, adamanite (morph Steel at 75), blue mask, morph topaz, morph topaz, dragon eye bracelet, morph ruby) or if not you can use the champion (completion of the tower of ascension quest, level 75)
For levels 81-90 you’ll want to continue the grind at the waterfall grind spot or the silverfish cave grind spot until level 90 because these are the suggested level to grind at these spots. This level range is pretty boring because if you’re not grinding and doing quests you have to navigate the canyon of the lost multiple times which is annoying without teleport scrolls.
For levels 81-90 you’ll want to continue to use an Ethereal but in terms of armor you can either use the cosmic set where the build can be found here (completion of ??? quest, level 80) or you can continue to use the morph set build (morph gold, morph iron, morph steel, blue mask, morph topaz, morph topaz, dragon eye bracelet(morph amethyst at 87), morph ruby)
For this level range you’ll want to attempt the fallen factory dungeon until you’re level 95 and then attempt the corrupted ice barrows or corrupted undergrowth ruins dungeon at the forgery until you’re level 100. Alternatively you can grind at mirror cave or the frozen fortress with a party from 91-100 although it’s kinda rare to actually find a party that’s grinding there anymore.
For this level range you can continue to use your Ethereal or you can get better wands like a Judas or a Peaceful Rest as a dungeon reward if you choose to do corrupted dungeons. In terms of gear you can still use the cosmic set however you might die a lot since it’s not really suggested for anything other than grinding or dungeons so morph will probably be the way to go for this level(morph gold, morph iron, morph steel, blue mask(morph stardust at 100), morph gold, morph gold, morph amethyst, morph ruby).
For this level range you’ll want to grind at the church in the silent expanse until you’re level 105 with a party. It’s pretty hard to grind at this spot alone although there is ways to grind here solo and cheese killing the mobs for experience. Alternatively you can continue to grind at frozen fortress or mirror cave if you found a grind party or continue grinding the corrupted undergrowth ruins at the forgery until you’re at level 105. If you’re in for a real challenge you could try and complete the Eldritch Outlook dungeon until you get to level 105 (you can do this with a party but the Boss fight gets harder with more players)
For levels 101-105 you’ll want to continue to use a peaceful rest or switch to a cascade if you want to deal rainbow damage. Once you complete the Eldritch Outlook dungeon 3 times you’ll want to get The Nothing, one of the best non mythic wands in the game. As for armor you’ll want to use the same armor from level 100
Level 106 is the result of a bug that’s been in the game for years where if you grind all the experience you previously gained all over again you can level up again. Level 106 is purely cosmetic however if you wish to gain it your best bet is either passively gaining the experience over a long period of time or sitting in a grind party for hours to gain the experience.

There currently is no gear for level 106, not even crafted items have a combat level 106 requirement so use the same items as from level 105. If you want you can also use a tierstack(melee) build or a time rift (spellspam) build
-If you’re level 100, dual wield a king of hearts wand purely for healing only
-if you have curseforge, download the mod wynntils for a minimal and many QOL features
-use /itemlock to lock the item slot so you don’t accidentally drop it
-join the wynncraft discord if you have any questions or need help with something
-teleportation scrolls are really useful for getting around the map, stock up on some
-don’t keep teleportation scrolls in your hot bar so you don’t accidentally teleport away
-always keep potions on you even though you have a literal heal spell

at 105 I'd say to recommend looking into a good build such as tierstack or time rift spell

I'd add to that to not put them in your hotbar, in case you accidentally teleport away
