SPOILER Pressing Question for the Content Team

This is a letter addressed to the Content Team regarding an URGENT manner.

So we all know about Doctor Legendary, right? The eccentric final boss of Legendary Island, fighting you with his huge powerful magical mech. However, there is something about him that raises a few questions, specifically his full name.



His full name is Herbert von Legendary. Yet, this raises some questions. Is "Doctor" part of his full name? Why would any sane human being name their child fucking "Herbert"? Is he German?

But those questions don't matter right now, they are for another time. No, the most pressing question in this case is, why is his surname "von Legendary"?

As some may know, "von" is a German word meaning "from", and in fact in surnames it is used to indicate where a person is from, or where their ancestry is from. Otto von Bismarck, for example, is called that because his ancestors came from the Saxon town of Bismark. So, in this situation, Doctor Legendary would be from a place called "Legendary" (Herbert from Legendary).

However...



There's no place in Corkus, much less in the entire map, called "Legendary"! And don't hit me with that "oh he's called that because he's from Legendary Island" bullshit. He FOUNDED Legendary Island! He named it after HIMSELF! That makes no fucking sense!

Where is it??? Where is Legendary??? Where is Doctor Legendary from??? Is he even from this realm, or is he a supernatural being from another world??? How could they make such a glaring inconsistency??? Is he a mere illusion??

WHERE IS IT???

I await an apology and an official response from the Content Team. Thank you for reading.

 

Von is his middle name, it’s just a coincidence that it means from in German

 

You see:

In the year of 1925, he attended Cambridge University. Here, he earned his doctorate in psychology, thus giving him the title "Doctor." Six years later, he travelled to Brandenburg in order to meet the king Frederick I of Prussia. Here, he studied politics with Frederick. The issue of warfare with the Aztecs, however, cut his studies short, as Frederick set sail on a diplomatic journey to parley with the Aztecs. Unfortunately, during his voyage, the Kraken attacked his fleet and sunk his ships. When the heartbreaking news came back to Doctor Legendary, he took up the throne in order to resolve the power struggle that had occurred following Frederick's death. In order to lessen the hostility he received from the people of Prussia (he was a foreigner, of course), he changed his name to Herbert. Here, he established the Legendary dynasty of Prussia, which lasted 416 years. From this dynasty comes the "von" in his surname. After 416 long years of ruling Prussia, he finally abdicated and travelled back to his home, Great Britain. The problem was, in taking the Prussian throne, he renounced his British citizenship. Soon after his arrival, he was deported and sent to a Coca-Cola funded detainment camp in South America, where he was incarcerated for 47 years. Eventually though, Joe Biden, the Great Elector of America and the People's Glory, following a communist revolution in the United States, abolished the Coca-Cola funded detainment camp and replaced it with a Pepsi-Cola funded detainment camp. Here, Doctor Herbert von Legendary was detained for another 3576 years. By the time he was released, the landscape had drastically changed due to the large amount of Coca-Cola dumped into the oceans (871,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons) the world had morphed into what we today know as Wynn. Doctor Herbert von Legendary, now a free man, decided to start life anew in Corkus.

 

See I would agree, but “von” is lowercase, meaning that it can’t be his middle name otherwise it’d be capitalized

 

I thought it was common knowledge that he has a doctorate of musical arts and engineering is just his side hustle.

I think "von Legendary" is the title of the lord of Legendary Island so no wonder he has that name.

And I also think "Herbert" must be from German name.
But there's a Corkian who named Maxie(Doesn't it sound like German name?) so no wonder Dr's name sounds like German.

If Legendary Island is private property, and owned strictly by Dr. Legendary, then maybe. Though I don’t think so because the Corkian government has a lot of say in what happens there (if the government pulls out their funding to the doctor, the Legendary Challenge basically dies because of lack of money). “Von” is also rarely used to indicate belonging to a noble family, but I’m not so sure about Dr. Legendary being a noble, especially in a country as recent and democratic as Corkus.
And yeah, Herbert is a german name, but tbh Corkian naming conventions are basically out of the window. There’s a council member named goddamn Clomis, like imagine naming your kid “Clomis”

 

Well, your theory is rational. He might exaggerate his name because he is a sort of a confident person.

Is a name "Clomis" really that strange? I don't know much about naming in Europe.

As creative and interesting this is, I simply just don't think whoever wrote the poem intended it to be a metaphor for Christianity. It's a fantasy MMORPG minecraft server and there are no other major biblical or Christian references anywhere in the game. The biggest flaw is that God and Jesus simply aren't Twins; twins are born at the same time and Jesus was created after God. Furthermore, Jesus absolutely never condemned God or vice-a-versa; they are never portrayed as antagonists to one another in traditional Christian teachings.

If I had to guess a possibility of what the poem means, it could be a reference to Orphion and the Dark Beast. Now it is a hunch, but given that this scenario touches upon the in game lore and therefore more topical, it makes more sense than a reference to a real life religion.

The first and third lines match; both are born from completely different sides of the same coin (light and dark) and they hate each other.
Breaking through heaven makes more sense because the Dark Beast wanted to invade the light realm, which is considered as a sort of heaven in the Elves religion.
The younger one falling could be a reference to the Dark Beast being defeated at some point, only to then rise and challenge the older one once more (in this case Orphion).

Beyond the poem, there is one off-hand line from the Light Forest Ultimate Secret Discovery: "This fight... This war... It has torn us apart from what we were."
This is the Dark Beast talking to Orphion; so it means that at one point in the past these two beings were once connected. So I guess it can kinda support the usage of "twin" in the title of the poem.

But that's just my two cents on it; I doubt we will ever get a clear answer and I don't think there was meant to be one.
