Currently unable to finish the quest "cowfusion"

When playing through the quest of cowfusion I "deleted" Veekhat's head. I have probably re-killed him 100 times by now and have no way of getting the head back.

I am wondering if there is any way to reset the quest or get the item back.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Veekhat should drop a key, which allows you to open his cabinet in order to open the door

 

Yes, he did drop a key, which opens his cabinet, however I never got an item from the cabinet, and I can't complete the task, nvm /fixquests worked :)

You shouldn't get an item from it. Opening the cabinet triggers a dialogue that turns you back into a human, and you'll then be able to exist the laboratory through the portal on the side of the room (the weird looking wall with scattered nether portal blocks)
