SPOILER Theory: the festivals have lore?

So far we've had 2 festivals. The Festival of the Bonfire, and the Festival of spirits. There will likely be a holiday festival as well. But there's some continuity between TFOTB and TFOTS, as well as some.. lore implications?

Let's start with the Guide and his spirit pit. Doesn't that pit have a familar concept? At this time of the year, you must bring lost souls back to the pit to their home. There's another SIMILAR pit in this game, called the Pit of the Dead. It's near Nemract, and the pit is where the spirits of the miners who found the Nether Portal now reside. We also know that Death has some relation to this, though I believe his job may only be to collect the souls of PLAYERS and not NPCS, as his whole quest is basically a meta joke about respawning. This makes the Pit of the Dead more canonically accurate.

But there's a similarity. The pit in Detlas is a dark, void chasm, and so is the pit of the dead. So here's a little theory. What if the place seen in the Pit of the Dead is another realm, or maybe part of Death's realm? The Guide talks about how this pit takes the dead to the ''Beyond'' which ''is their home''. And with the similar design and idea, it's hard not to question whether they are the same thing.

We've seen another similar concept, Mael. In his lifetime, he helped let spirits rest, and after he died, the spirits in the graveyard behind Twain Manor became restless. What if Mael was not told to protect the spirits by Marius, but by the Seer, Guide and Envoy? After all, Marius' spirit told him to stay in the mansion to wait for Bob's arrival, not to protect the spirits. For some beings who appear to protect spirits, perhaps they saw Mael, the spirit mage, as the perfect assistant. So he helped them. Maybe there was once a pit in the graveyard? I went to check there and found no evidence of such a thing existing, but that's probably because such a thing was not conceptualized in 2016.

What if the Pit of the Dead is actually open because Envoy, Guide and Seer opened it for someone to calm the raging spirits in their realm? Maybe they are watching always, and recognized your talent or something. The only issue is that the NPC next to the pit acts as though it was always there, though he knows a suspicious amount about it too.

Next is the Envoy. This guy has some really interesting things to say. If you ask who he is, he says ''I am a human like you. Or at least I was.'' implying that he is a ghost of some kind. If you talk to him with the Emblem of the Bonfire in your inventory and ask ''Tell me something'', you can show him the emblem. He comments on how the Bonfire Tender is his brother and how it's ''Unlike him to interfere with this world'' and how ''Our sort have to get by somehow!''

This basically implies that the Bonfire Tender was a ghost, too. If you looked at the Tender's back, it was glowing. And I also notice some polarity between these brothers.

Notice how the Bonfire Tender created the Detlas Bonfire. Fires emit Light, and he had a relatively light-themed outfit. The bonfire goes upward. The Envoy and his friends are relatively darkness-themed, with a shadow chasm in the same place. The chasm goes downward. The bonfire tender is very warm towards the player, calling them ''Friend'' and letting them know that they'll always have a place at the bonfire. And while the Envoy isn't cold, he IS much more serious than the Tender and not quite as friendly

Edit: I would also like to point out that the Bonfire Tender has yellow dialogue similar to Orphion while the Envoy has grey dialogue. This dialogue is specifically grey because if you have the Talking Mushroom strike up an argument with him, the Mushroom's dialogue is green.

They're polar opposites, and the Envoy seems to help govern death. Maybe he and the Bonfire tender are gods, who govern life and death.

I think the NPCs said something about more info coming out as the event goes on, so I'll be updating this thread each ''bell ring'' or if there's some lore with the daily quest

I don't think either Festivals have any proper lore, nor do I think they plan to add it. The Festival of the Bonfire to me seems like it was a test run for the current event, so if there's any connection between that Festival and this one, it's probably hopelessly contrived, and just for the sake of worldbuilding but without a connection to most of the Wynncraft world itself.

Lex herself (who basically made the event) said that the festival has some lore, some of which isn't available yet. So yes, they did plan for it to have lore

Not sure about Light and Darkness having relations to this, nor the Envoy and Bonfire Tender being gods. Usually, when spirits are involved, it only has to do with Death and his realm. Take Charon, for example: it seems to be implied that he has some relation to Death as the realm we visit in the Dark Descent is grey just like Death's Realm, and he can raise spirits and turn them into undead soldiers.
Mael helping the spirits in the Twain Graveyard pass on is also most likely just something Marius told him, or something that he did himself, since Marius was keen on telling Mael that there was nothing wrong with his magical gifts (people would usually keep their distance from Mael as they thought spirit magic was dark) and Marius also wanted to teach all of his children to help the province.
If I interpreted the dialogues correctly, though, the spirits we bring back to Detlas are from the "Beyond", aka the same realm that the three guys we meet are from. This "Beyond" might have different laws, maybe the spirits there are tied to Light and Darkness rather than Death's Realm. But at the same time, why would the trio care about telling Mael to let the spirits in the Twain manor pass on, if those spirits are from our realm while the spirits we find for them are from the Beyond?
Seems like so far the only confirmed lore is that the Guide, Envoy and Seer are here from another realm for... some reason that we don't know yet, and that there are spirits from that same realm that we find for them. Also, the Seer knows about rune magic apparently, since he says that the runes "have latent magic".

Yeah, because if that were truly the case, the Envoy would have purple text like the Dern beast in the Light Forest ultimate discovery. The Tender sharing the dialogue color of Orphion is still interesting, though.

I think there IS lore, but I don't think that festivals are actual festivals in the game, at least not of now. Festivals or holidays are annual, and something tells me recreating the New York Ghostbuster Scene smack in the middle of Detlas isn't something that people would stand for. If that WAS an actual one, it would make sense for the Item Identifier to move or most of the citizens would've freaked out, packed their bags and skipped over to Ragni or something

Some more lore came with the Drawing of the Spirits (the actual item, the painting, not the raffle)

Thoughts? It seems like the Envoy, Seer and Guide are trying to summon something, with the bottom picture being a kind of ritual circle. Also, notice how the bottom picture looks eerily similar to Detlas' spirit pit (two bones, darkness at the bottom), though there are no flames.

Also I'm pretty sure the bottom picture is supposed to be the pit, but who knows what it means
(Have you tried showing it to the Envoy?)

The bottom image vaguely resembles the Dern Portal.

Could these guys be trying to summon the Dern Beast? "Mold this realm to suit your needs" sounds like a pretty dern beast thing with the whole war of the realms thing

And if that's the case, could the Bonfire Tender be a helper of Orphion, explaining why his text matches Orphion's in colour? Maybe the reason he hasn't seen the Envoy in a while is because they were separated by the WOTR?

Alternatively "Mold this realm to suit your needs" could be in reference to how Detlas changed. Perhaps there's another being in this "Beyond" who wants its spirits back and turned Detlas into a spooky town so they'd feel at home when returned?

If you talk to the Seer now (he's next to the envoy) you can ask him to tell you a rumor and he'll tell you this.
I believe he is referring to the Envoy and the Bonfire Tender, and implying there are 2 more brothers.
He says "Of four, you have met one, possibly two" which could be talking about the BT and the Envoy since he's right next to the Envoy, guaranteeing that you've met him, and there's only a possibility that you played during the Bonfire Festival.

I think there's gonna be some kind of story involving these brothers.
