Redbeard's Booty : can't get off the island

I am stuck in stage 5 where I am supposed to get 3 strings and 4 planks to build a boat, but the boat just doesn't work.
It doesn't teleport me and I am just stuck, after 4-5 seconds the boat departs and the only way to go anywhere else is using scrolls.
I have tried /kill and re-logging but it doesn't do anything, in the best case scenario I just receive an extra key.
What do I do to advance?

i couldnt find any way to complete it but saw many other people do it with no problems

 

i tried going from 1.17.1 and getting off wynntils but i still dont know why i cant leave the island. i tried cheeseing the quest by going to the dungeon place but it didnt work all i could do was chuck the key you got from the quest into the hopper and the dungeon would pop up but you cant go in unless you do the quest. the dumb boat just leaves without me

bouta head 2022, just started playing wynncraft again and the damn glitch is STILL here

 

play on 1.12.2, if its still doesnt work, create a bug report

 

I am currently using 1.12.2 and someone already submitted a bug report wayyy back in March....
I have also tried /kill and /class
