    New Nintendo Direct. Naice.

At last Kirby is now 3D. From the looks of it, this will probably be a very novel experience for Kirby, and I can tell that Kirby Lore Theorists (i'm kinda one of them) are going to have a field day for this. While this does seem to have some Mario Odyssey elements in there, I will be willing to bet that there will be a few mechanics to make it stand out more. Tbh though I'm kinda surprised HAL took 20 years to make a 3D mainline Kirby game (Blowout Blast & Battle Royale was more of an experiment to me).

The new Nintendo Switch Online stuff looks cool, although I don't like that the new stuff is locked behind a monthly subscription for something that feels mandatory to purchase.

Brewster is finally being added. Even though New Horizons is my first AC game, I am hyped to see what the new stuff will bring to ACNH.

Metroid Dread is really pumping out the hype now that it is just around the corner.

Splatoon 3 got more leaks, and I am curious to see how the story will play out.

And a Mario Movie is being made. Kinda surprised Charles Martinet is not voicing Mario, and I am hoping that it won't be a train wreck like the 1993 version. So far its just kinda eh news to me.

So yeah that's kinda about it.

I genuinely cannot wait for the mario movie. of course I won't see it (although jack black as bowser is tempting ngl) but the internet discourse and memes it will generate will be endlessly entertaining

The 3d Kirby game was pretty cool to see. I think there was one on the N64 but I'm not sure. I just feel like Kirby is an oversaturated character. He's cute, his games are cool, but god he can feel like a shovelware character sometimes. I might try this game though.

Switch online stuff is really exciting. I didn't see the N64 VC coming because of 3D all-stars releasing with M64 earlier in the year. Finally I'll get to play OOT and MM, and check out some of the first 3d games ever. It's also awesome that Rare has agreed to have their games (with the obvious exclusion of Conker lol) on the switch. The Sega genesis stuff didn't actually surprise me, because a few months ago I considered the possibility that Nintendo would do that. This also opens up the potential for Master System games, Saturn games, and Dreamcast games. I think games made for peripherals for the Genesis like the Sega CD and 32x will be included with Genesis games. Some people were sad that GB and GBC games were not included, but let's be real: Playing highly pixelated monochrome games wouldn't be very fun and if Nintendo ever does add it, it'd be in the tier 1 subscription. Atari 2600 online when??????
I really hope Nintendo makes this tier have less lag though. They probably won't, but it'd be nice to play Mario Maker online at more than 2 fps

Animal crossing stuff was pretty awesome to see. The game hasn't been updated for almost a year now, and I thought Nintendo was discontinuing its updates. By ''Stuff'' I mean ''1 new area in the museum teaser'' because they announced an animal crossing direct for next month. I'm guessing it'll be later in the month considering they just said ''October'' (as far as I'm aware anyway). Animal crossing New Horizons is such a good game and part of why is its absolutely game-changing free updates, so more of that is great to see. I got bored of the game after their Halloween event because it had just started feeling repetitive with no more progress to really make, so I hope this update can temporarily fix the repetition (The brewster stuff might have some quests to unlock it)

I don't really care about Metroid Dread. At least not right now. It's amazing how they finally did a new 2d metroid after 2 decades, but a shame they're just spoiling the whole story with the trailers. I don't like metroidvanias that much though, and have little care for the metroid lore. The only way I'll buy this game is if they release a free demo and I enjoy it.

Splatoon 3 is also not something I really care too much about. I don't like online competitive games, and the story mode for Splatoon 2 forces you to play some online rounds to progress which I just really didn't want to do. There wouldn't be much in this game for me personally, but a lot of people really like this series so I was happy for them.

The mario movie looks very promising. I was surprised by Charles Martinet not playing Mario and Luigi, but you have to understand that he's getting old and voice acting BOTH main protagonists in a full-length feature film seems a bit much for him. Chris Pratt being mario is had to imagine, I can only ever look at mario and imagine Charles Martinet and Captain Lou. I think he can do well as Mario though. Jack Black being bowser is really what sold the movie to me, and Toad being comedy relief is pretty cool. I don't get why Wario and Waluigi aren't in the movie but some dude from fucking WRECKING CREW is though?????????????????????. Anyway, I want to watch this movie when it comes out, and I'm excited for some actual trailers. I really hope Illumination has their own character models for the characters so Chris pratt voicing Mario is less jarring.

Here's some more things that were cool:

Bayonetta 3 getting a release year and a trailer is awesome for Bayonetta fans. I don't personally care about the Bayonetta series but a lot of people were really excited for this game to get another trailer and I'm happy for them.

I knew Deltarune Chapter 2 was going to be featured. The game saw its PC release less than a week ago so when a Nintendo Direct pops up shortly after and the game has a Switch version without chapter 2, it's quite easy to see what'll be announced. I was waiting for this version to come out so I can use it as extra save files (I've accepted the PC version as the definitive version of the game and used up all of my chapter 2 save slots already) so it was exciting to see. There's also a ton of people who decided to wait for the Switch version who wanted this. I pity those people because they probably got so many spoilers while waiting for it, and I do not regret my decision to pull an all-nighter on the game as soon as it came out for PC.

The Hyrule warriors DLC was really cool. I didn't really care about the game's DLC previously, even though I found the game fun. But seeing the trailer show what appears to be a playable Astor, Sooga, Purah and Robbie was really cool. Their voice lines were actually found in the game's files when it released but most people concluded that they were scrapped characters. I also saw at the start of the trailer what appears to be either a new Blight ganon or the actual spider calamity ganon from Breath of the Wild. Anyway, this trailer sold me on the DLC for this game

When it comes to the new Mario movie, I think it won't be a trainwreck like the first one, but I doubt it will be good, either. That's more of a superstition than an evidence supported fact, though.
Wait, when did this happen? I've played the game and I don't remember this at all.

I think it was a part when Marie was like ''go buy a better weapon'' and when you go to the weapon store you require a currency from online matches or something

The mario movie is probably going to be either a flat out dumpster fire or a "so bad it's good" type movie.

Kirby looks cool, might play it.

That splatoon 3 trailer was...wow...I do not play or intend to play it, but I can't lie and say it didn't look slightly appealing lol.

    1. Metroid: Dread
      • Maybe its just me, but I have multiple metroid copies from the Gamecube since this was bundled when purchasing the console. I've known about the series since then, but it never peeked my interest. However, the presentation in metroid dread seems extremely polished to the point I'd consider playing it. It reverts from the 3d formula of metroid into the classic metroid games and the looks and feel of it are very compelling to actually try this IP of Nintendos that i've missed out on.
    2. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity: Guardiance of Remembrace
      • I played age of calamity, yet I never actually finished it. I did enjoy it, but as my first warrior game from the legendary Koei Tecmo Games, the original Hyrule Warriors seemed a whole lot more interesting. The DLC looks pretty good, though, expanding more on what's supposed to be the sequel to BOTW.
    3. Kirby: The Forgotten Lost Land
      • This is a Yoshi's Crafted World vs Yoshi's Wooly World all over. Why can they make a new game yet not port to the Switch Kirby's Epic Yarn??? That being said, this new game seems like a big leap forward for the Kirby saga. Nintendo had never pushed Kirby towards a fully 3d environment, and it seems to capture what most players remember of Kirby if they ever played a game on the gameboy or ds.
    4. ChocoboGP
      • This game made me sceptical at first since no Mario Kart spinoff ever lasts. However, instead of your typical item system, you use spells, and you can use more powerful versions of those spells, so that made it quite compelling to me. Not only that, but the design of the tracks and there being some memorable characters shown on the footage, sold me. However, I will say, I would have preferred over a risky car game, that they had released Dissidia NT on the switch and actually revived it.
    5. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Brewster Update
      • While Nintendo was letting this game die, Citra emulator and New leaf came to the rescue for me. I got to try everything I was angry wasn't on the Switch's version of this game. It's literally so ridiculous to me how on the game files you can find the dialogue and interactions for inviting villagers to your home or them inviting you to their home, and it never was finished and added as a feature within the last second. So, this update, while I would have preferred they told me everything new they're adding rather than making me wait like a month for the dedicated video, was one of the highlights for me.
    6. Nintendo 64 Online and Sega Genesis online
      • This was the highlight of the event for me. it really warms my heart to see Nintendo recognize Sega Genesis for the success it was, though I won't lie I retorted to the fact it was the genesis and not the dreamcast; the dreamcast has a much more interesting library I never got to experience besides Sonic Adventure when ported as Sonic Adventure Dx to the gamecube. However, let me tell you Sonic Adventure was insanely ahead of its time as it received various themes and updates every couple of months to accomodate halloween, christmas, and other holidays. The Dreamcast was the first console with proper internet access and connection that an entire online service to revive it would have just blown my mind.
      • As for the n64 online service, it showed the initial games it would launch with, and then showed those that would be added periodically. They should have dropped that release schedule and released all those at the same time. It just angers me that once I update to the more expensive membership, I'll have access to Ocarina of Time within release yet i'll have to wait a couple of weeks to play Majora's Mask.
    7. Mario Movie
      • Super Mario Land Japan was released a few months ago, and Miyamoto now show us his newest project with Illumination. The cast is good, the studio is good. What could go wrong? It was a bit of a doozy for me, but its promising.
    8. Splatoon 3
      • Third time's the charm, and for a really long time they've wanted a full-on story-mode for Splatoon, and that seems to be its main focus of this new iteration for the saga. I think the return of the mammals will be a rather bizarre story yet the futuristic/apocalyptic visuals will make it very beautiful to experience. The multiplayer matches have new techniques added to them, but it's essentially what we're accustomed to.
    9. Bayonetta 3
      • Last but not least, most people missed Bayonetta 2 as it was a Wii U release, so there's something odd there wasn't a Bayonetta 2 Deluxe edition for the switch. I think this would be the final touch, to release Bayoonetta 2 Deluxe for the switch to even gather more attention for this IP, and then drop Bayonetta 3 when its least expected.
There's some games I excluded since they don't interest me, but there's my rundown of the Direct.

Are you sure about this? I remember not having switch online but having Splatoon 2, and playing the single player mode.

Hot take but Illumination is actually a pretty good studio. People tend to fucking despise the minions because they're annoying and overly advertised, but if you can see past their annoyingness and the fart humour then the Despicable Me movies actually have some decent jokes

When they haven't released a Gamecube emulator yet it's unrealistic to expect Dreamcast. I think Sega will, along with Nintendo, release all their consoles (makes me question if a virtual boy online would ever come out) over time and the Dreamcast would obviously be one of them

The funny thing is that they released Super Mario 3D Allstars earlier in the year with a ton of Mario 64 bugs fixed, and now for switch online they're releasing the TRUE definitive version with all the ludicrous BLJs still intact.

Nintendo would like to know your location
