[Theory] About the name "Wynn"

Hi, so I recently made a discovery and it's not necessarily lore related but I think it might have to do with the "Wynn" in Wynncraft. Now it's possible that it's just a coincidence but hear me out:

There's a really well-known game called "World of Warcraft" that was (and still kinda is, though it's losing a lot of it's playerbase) one of the largest MMORPGs of all time. Now, it was more popular back around 2008 but it still holds relevancy today.

Now I'm very drawn to the game, for some reason, especially WoW (World of Warcraft) Classic and some of the earlier expansions (despite not getting very far in it, mostly because of how grindy it is). One day I was bored and was looking around the map. Which, by the way, has many similarities to Wynncraft's own in my opinion, mainly the two provinces and islands in the middle.

It was then that I noticed that in the human starting area (because yes, there are different races which have different starting areas) that the name of the forest is "Elwynn" forest.

It's pretty obvious the connection to that name and well...Wynn. Now, sorry if this theory is a repeat, or maybe there's another explanation that was already put out there, but I feel like this connection makes sense. Elwynn forest is a really important area in WoW, and I wouldn't be surprised if the original creators of Wynncraft played WoW (or still do) and came up with the name because of it.

 

Wynn is old english though, and I think when Wynn was being teased back in like 2012 the codename for the project referenced this

i suppose it is possible, if unlikely, that the name was picked due to its similarity to other things as well, but that's its main origin

Fun Fact, there's was a letter in the English alphabet called 'Wynn', and it looks like this: Ƿ

It was used for the 'W' sound in old English, and I think the original codename of Wynncraft, 'W' might be a reference to it.

 

The other provinces' names also come from Old English: Gavel means greed, Dern means dark, and Fruma means origin.

 

According to google Wynn is also a Welsh girls' name meaning "holy, blessed reconciliation; joy and peace; fair, pure"

EDIT: also according to Urban Dictionary is also means "a cool and rad kid"
