"Yarr... a cargo hold of plunder, a name feared among the ocean settlers, and no losses but the fine tea we had to throw overboard... me days are going well, smooth like a ship in a calm, mid-day breeze... mine days couldn't go much better."

The pirate captain leaned on the mast, surveying his crew and the deep blue waves of the waters of Jofash. He began to whistle a tune, a cheerful yet haunting melody. Never would a sailor wish to wake up hearing that tune; if one's ears were to pick up that song in the morning, he'd better not open his eyes, for what he'd see would be pirates holding torches and that infamous captain standing over his mattress.

The captain closed his eyes. The warm breeze blew lazily past his arms, once burned by acid from a raid's loot he had accidentally spilled.

Then, the most peculiar thing happened: there was a loud boom, a great shockwave, and there, just to his left, fell from the skies an adventurer clad in mysterious black garments carrying a heavy bow.

The archer landed gracefully and grabbed a potion from his waist, emptying its entire contents down his throat. He continued this seemingly random drinking of potions, taking several, different colored brews from his belt and taking a swig from each. The adventurer even took out a few utensils and began to devour a large dish of salmon and rice. Finally, washing down the hearty meal with swig of a potion glowing a fiery red, he stood up and brushed some grains of rice from his trousers, and began to unleash hell upon the pirates.

The crew aboard the ship could only watch in fascination and wonder as this man who had eaten a four-course meal right in front of them in the center of the deck slaughtered their comrades as if he were possessed by a demon.

He leapt from his position, landing squarely in the center of the crowd of pirates. Using magic the captain had never laid eyes on before, the archer slammed his fist into the ground, creating a ring of arrows around him, forcing the pirates to stumble backwards. Muttering alien incantations, he rapidly loosed a series of arrows, taking down several pirates.

Coming back to their senses, the pirates began to gather their weapons and fight back against this intruder who had so rudely left crumbs all over the deck.

"Attack! Give this soldier boy a taste of our steel!"

At the command of their captain, the pirates began to surge forwards at their enemy.

The adventurer released a glimmering arrow from his bow. However, the pirates were able warriors, and the arrow was easily blocked by a shield. The shield-bearing pirate sneered. Confident, they once again advanced towards the archer.

Flames lingered in the air as the arrow exploded, knocking back the shield-bearer and his comrades. The archer took down several more pirates with his arrows, occasionally releasing an explosive arrow, keeping the pirates on their toes.

The pirates were not defenseless, though. Attacking from all sides, the pirates closed in on the adventurer, who despite his prowess, could not defend himself from pirates behind him. He attempted to unleash the same shield of arrows he had created prior, but slowly, his mana reserves were drained.

Leaping from the deck, the archer landed atop the prow. Picking off the pirates from a distance, he once again had the advantage. Pirates fell one by one, and the flames from the explosions began to set the deck alight.

The captain watched as his crew struggled to put out the fires and fight back against this strange enemy. Looking around, the pirate captain began to devise a better strategy.

    "Load the cannon!"

At the prow, the archer may have had the advantage of only having to defend from one side, but their mobility was greatly decreased.

Pirates ran across the deck carrying cannonballs. Sparks were lit, and the cannon boomed. The adventurer managed to dodge the first shot, but the pirates now had a chance at victory.

The pirates could not ignore the fire, though.

Orange flames crept towards the cannon. Sparks landed on the canvas bags of gunpowder, causing them to combust and burn a vibrant yellow. Distracted, the pirates began focusing on stopping the spread of the fires, only to be hit by the archer's arrows.

Fire slowly burned the ship. The pirate captain stood facing the archer, his fallen comrades around him.

He knew the ship could not be saved. But at least he could avenge his crew and take down this adventurer, preserving his honor.

Several arrows were loosed at the captain, but he dodged all but one that struck his shin. Weakened, the captain made his last attempt at victory, planning one last strategy.

It was a trick he learned from the enemies he fought at Maro Peaks.

    "Pull!"

Seized by the pirate captain's spell, the archer was suddenly accelerated forwards. He became a human cannonball. As if he were being grabbed by the invisible hand of the inferno, he was launched directly into the flames.

The pirate captain knelt as he watched the archer collapse in the fire. "That pull spell really is something, eh."
