So I’m planning to make a suggestion about the Mesa because a lot of people were saying it’s bad, but I don’t know what specifically about it that sucks. So what about it that sucks?
Theres a poll you can answer if you don’t want to write.

It's just not a particularly interesting place, and fits a kind of weird spot where you don't actually need to go there at all since the level range that you should go is just not a major part of the game. Navigating around it is also an absolute nightmare, it's like COTL but low level and not enough rewards to actually justify spending time there instead of just skipping it. It's not that the Mesa is bad by itself IMO, it just doesn't have much of a point. It's kinda like some of the other "useless" cities (e.g Bucie) where you go once and then like never again, except blown up to the size of an entire Wynncraft region

Rymek is one of those places where you're like level 50 and you go to your questbook to look what quests you have and the only thing is Canyon Condor so you groan and say "i'll do it tomorrow" and then you never do

I absolutely hate the Mesa. it's probably my least favorite place to be, only losing to Canyon of The Lost.
the area made me hate the quests, and if you somehow fall into the ravines there is literally nothing you can do before you complete the Canyon Condor quest. (If you fall down and want to go up, there is only one thing to do: the waterfall.)
also not having Dungeons or something useful in it makes it just unrewarding in itself, and even if it had it, the terrain just makes you never want to go in, ever.

There's a path in the cliff face near Rymek that can get you out of the canyon.
I was in the canyon for about an hour before I thought to try it though.

lol how did I never knew about this
but anyways that will mean that you will have to go to Rymek and that might be a long way when you are at the middle of the Mesa
    and you'll get lost again

    and again

Literally never had problems with the mesa, honestly, I don't get the hate. Never once got lost, don't have an issue taking the roads back up the canyon instead of complaining about "duh elevators!!1!" and the quests are alright. Plus Rymek's pretty neat, and I have a particular fondness for Abandoned Mines.

Its basically a big circle, you can't get lost.
And its maybe 3 minutes max to get to Rymek from the other end.

I personally don't feel like this. Also if I need to just go to Rymek I usually use the Abandoned mines shortcut directly from detlas.

I don't exactly hate the Mesa, but it is by far, imo, one of the most tacked-on regions in the game.

Obviously, the elephant in the room is the terrain, although it is a bit more manageable because of the elevators, although if you fall, hope you have have a good movement spell for nullifying fall damage at level.

The only quest that takes place in the mesa that is also pretty great imo would be Kingdom of Sand, and that has a BIG asterisk by it since it also takes place in the desert as well, and for the quests that take place entirely in the mesa (only 2 btw), the best would be canyon condor, which is a mediocre quest at best.

As someone who really likes loot caves and think they are criminally under-talked about, the Mesa's caves are alright. They don't really stand out that much compared to other caves like the Vibrant Plant Cave in RoL, and the Olux Sewer Cave (if you're bored I highly recommend checking them out), but there is a significant lack of them. Maybe if it got an outstanding cave, then I would not call it a problem, but the caves just feel generic.

And there's also lore, I feel desert lore has some holes in it (where did the sceptre come from? who the hell are the pharaohs, and are they separate from the emperor? why is the yellow crystal there?) and all the Mesa explains is about Creden Tibus. I think it could also toss in a bit more about other bandit groups, and explain a bit more how Creden Tibus became honor-bound to protect the desert.

tl;dr: terrain is weird, mediocre quests at best, loot caves are generic, lore feels empty with a lot of plot holes (although thats kinda a desert problem).

The abandoned mines is in itself the shortcut from detlas to rymek. Go to the black road, abandoned mines, take a left and go through the tunnel and you're there. If you want to reach the upper levels of the mesa, just go over the almuj wall in ternaves (there's a staircase up) boom, you're on the upper level.

There are also stairs on the north side of the Mesa.
