Context: You're in the void village after doing a thousand meters under, catching up with some of the people you met, when you notice a building that seems a bit smaller than all the others. You go inside, and there's a very very old and very very faded, but still slightly legible, book. You flip it open and start reading...

Day 1: Aftershock, the treasure of our peoples, has been stolen by those blasted skyraiders! We've been tasked by the mayor of our citadel to design a replacement as soon as possible. Regrettably, the crystals from the colossus that were used to carve Aftershock have since disappeared into the void. We still have some documents from the time that they created the mythical staff, but they seem to be all but useless.

Day 2: We have to create something as similar to Aftershock as possible, so we've made a list of all the most powerful materials avaliable to us. Uranium, Phoenix Feathers, Dernic Metal, the list goes on and on, but somehow none of them seem to really fit as a replacement.

Day 4: I suppose radium, uranium, and toxic sludge will have to do as a replacement, with dernic string as a catalyst. I have no idea how they got dernic materials, since that part of our world is exceedingly dangerous, and any kind of resource-gathering expedition would most likely get shot down at the entrance. No matter though, we have what we need.

Day 7: We're well on our way to finishing this weapon! We ran out of dernic string, so the end result will most likely be a bit unstable, but that shouldn't be an issue.

Day 18: The relik is holding up well in tests, but it is extremely corrosive, so proper protective gear is to be worn when handling it.

Day 36: Something must've happened, because the relik is now so corrosive that it melts right through our gloves and bodysuits! We are going to have to abandon the refinement and testing process, it is too dangerous to handle. I personally think it might have something to do with the s-

Many pages seem to be ripped out after this, but there is one page still intact at the end.

Day 138: This is terrible! Someone broke the relik out of its contaiment and is now wreaking havoc across the sky islands! We have to stop them, this... thing is even more powerful than its predecessor... So corrosive that it can burn through the most resilient materials known to us, it can never be used again. This failed experiment shall now be known as Toxoplasmosis. It will be the emblem of the great civilization of the skies, but not as a sign of our prowess and mastery. It shall be the sign of a great effort and devoted team that failed in an attempt to bring glory back to our nation

Let it be known now. Toxoplasmosis shall be hidden in an alcove, deep inside the sky islands, protected by the Orange Wybel. May anyone foolish, or brave enough, dare to try retrieving it, you shall be met with certain death, and even then, you will not be able to find it in the vast maze that we have designed. If you are reading this, I am assured that you are far, far into the the future, for this journal shall be lost in the void forever.

May misfortune come to the one who wields our mythical failure.
