Question about atlas

So I’ve recently maxed out my first profile as a mage and wanted to get a good build so I can solo bosses and stuff like legendary island easier

I stumbled across this fatal build and saw the use of an atlas, and since I didn’t know why it was used, replaced it with diamond static bracelet

after checking the spell damages of both builds, the one with the atlas did more damage, which left me very confused cuz from what I knew, higher attack speed means a higher spell damage multiplier

tldr: why does atlas increase my spell damage

 

Modifiers to attack speed don't change the spell damage, only the base attack speed of the weapon matters.

so is the -attack speed of atlas just a nerf?
and why does atlas increase my spell damage?

it's generally an advantage, actually

slow attack speed makes it easier to charge powder specials and makes trigger mana steal and life steal more consistent/reliable since you don't have to constantly click to get the optimal chances
