I think a big reason some people stopped playing WC was because of 2 reasons:
    1) lack of optimizations (but that's not what today's rant is on)

    and

    2) The unbalanced aspect to the game. What I noticed when I played through with my now 103 mage account was that the majority of the enemies/bosses were exclusively polar on either the side of extremely easy or extremely difficult to beat. Typically the former. Then, suddenly you're thrown into something like Bob or ToA where your average first timer is going to need a high-level person being his personal body guard.

What I think we can pinpoint a lot of the blame of this lack of balance to is the questbook. There's too many quests these days that give you far too much XP and rewards and there isn't much incentive to not do any of the quests unless you progress past it too quickly by doing other quests.

A very straightforward way to remove incentives to do some quests is to mark quests in the questbook as side quests and main quests.

Admit it, it's pretty intimidating to any player to see row after row of medium/long quests that their completionist side needs to complete. If some were marked as side quests, then it would allow users to better comprehend what they are looking at and what is more realistically achievable and recommended.

Main quests, of course would unlock dungeons or provide you with a quest item, while a side quest, on the other hand, is a one-off deal such as doing the mansion puzzle in nemract. Additionally main quests would explicitly be something that adds to the lore of WynnCraft while the side quests wouldn't.

Doing this would reduce the incentive to do sidequests and make WC feel less like a grind like it does in it's current state imo, ultimately helping balance mob difficulty to have a challenge consistently throughout the playthrough.

I think this is a great idea. For me I see all the quests and, as a completionist, has to do them all. But on my second playthrough I don’t care as much, and I would much rather have explicit quests that are important instead of looking it up and missing some or doing a bunch of unnecessary fetch quests.
And when showing other ppl the game it’s hard to convince them to play when all they see are errand quests and not story, with no way to differentiate the two

Also you should make a poll so ppl can vote on wether they like this idea or not

I think there is a plan to add a main story in the future which would probably use all of the quests that would fit into ''Main quests'', but don't quote me on that.

quests are by far the main content of the game and the least grindy way to level. doing all quests on the first playthrough is highly recommended, yet many new players already don't see this and thus skip quests, practically sidestepping the game and inevitably leaving due to frustration of the apparent lack of content. this would increase that problem tenfold.

i would only agree with this in situations like ???, which wasn't even meant to be a real quest anyway.

Let's talk analogy here. If I had written this post all as one paragraph, then I can assure you that a large percentage of the readers who read the post would not have finished it since a wall of text looks quite intimidating. This allows, if anything, for the quests to be broken down into bite-sized chunks.
