I randomly have a Ragni Mercenary following me. He will help me fight but he is only level 8, so I'm a little scared he is going to die. How did I end up getting him? I thought he was sent to kill me or was like watching over me since I was harming the citzens of Ragni. Any info would be nice :)

They're a passive helper mob that spawns around Ragni. They'll follow you and fight with you until you lose them or they die.

They just randomly spawn? Nothing triggers them to spawn?

In fact, he just spawn inside Ragni and follow a player who approach him. btw all blue name and green name mobs are friendly even you hit them, so don't worry.

    Yup. Just random spawns.

So heres a run down how npcs works.
Blue named npcs means they will help you fight like the mercenary. (Some will even follow you)
    Green named npcs are passive
Yellow named npcs are neutral and will become aggressive at you, if you decide to attack it.
Red named npcs are aggresive like all the mobs and enemies you encounter

I will help you further basing @Flyfilo2 's info.
    MOBS:
Green-colored mobs don't target you whatsoever. They will not damage you whatever you do to them.
Yellow-colored mobs don't target you initially, but will attack you if you attack them first. Many of the rare mobs have this status. If you don't think you can beat this mob then don't attack it.
Red-colored mobs will target you until they die. If the mob is too strong then run away. Most of the wild mobs have this status.
Blue-colored mobs, like the Ragni Mercenary, will help you fight Red-Colored mobs. Some will follow you and help you.

    NPCS:
Green-colored NPCs are related to a quest. Right-click them to read their dialogue. Some will move, some will follow you, some will not move.
White-colored NPCs are miscellaneous NPCs. They are not related to a quest.

Thanks for the help @Jackkoh and ye basically. Thats how the mobs and npcs works. Important to remember so you don’t wind up confused.

Should I make a guide about this?
