?

IS "Sex changes" a good shorthand for the Strength/Dexterity changes?

    As a general rule, you can consider that a tradeoff of 1 skill point is worth approximately the following percent damages in a given spell build:

    Single offensive and defensive sp[1] spell builds:
    Archer (1 sp = ~2-3%) <-----> Mage (1 sp = ~2.5-4%)

    ETW spell builds:
    Archer (1 sp = ~2.5-3.5%) <-----> Mage (1 sp = ~3-4.5%)

    WFA spell builds:
    Archer (1 sp = ~0.8-1.6%) <-----> Mage (1 sp = ~1-2%)

    These estimates allow you to guess the approximate worth of taking extra Str/Dex skill points versus damage boosts. Note that this is heavily build-dependent - I tuned my estimates to work well with common build patterns. They are most accurate if you already have around 60 Str/Dex, but will remain reasonably effective from about 40 to 80 Str/Dex.

    The above estimates also assume no base or powder earth/thunder damage. It is rather straightforward to estimate the effects of those, though - for a weapon with e.g. all earth/thunder damage you would add +0.6% to the sp equivalency (for Str/Dex respectively), and weight this 0.6% by the ratio of the corresponding elemental base damage of the weapon.

    Of course, if you want precision (especially if your build deviates from my assumptions considerably), you can just calculate the exact point tradeoffs for a given combination of base weapon damages, damage ID boosts, and skill points. I am just throwing this together in 20 minutes so I don't have the time for a full treatment, but you can consult Wynnfo's Damage Calculation Guide (under "Mechanics") and work it out for yourself, if you are a serious classbuilder or just want to be ahead of the curve.

    As a quick endnote - going from 1.20.2 to 1.20.3, you can generally expect that WFA builds will lose about 30% of their damage, mono off/def builds will lose about 0-10%, and ETW builds will gain about 15-25%. Of course, the estimates above combined with my own testing indicates that the Str/Dex changes create a rather strong skew toward taking more skill points for damage, so comparable builds will likely be some 10-15% higher than that, relative to purely transferred builds.

    [1] I personally prefer to call this "Mono off/def" as shorthand, but there is no consensus term as of this writing. Also, quad spell builds compare similarly to mono off/def spell builds for most purposes, including these estimates.

    would like to point out that this puts achro's value in a quad at ~64% damage considered on its own, but even 128% damage considering in slot loss of gigabyte.

    I believe these numbers refer to how much raw added damage is given by speccing into offensive skillpoints vs just using normal % based damage stats, like with this line

    Single offensive and defensive sp[1] spell builds:
    Archer (1 sp = ~2-3%) <-----> Mage (1 sp = ~2.5-4%)

    It means that generally when porting a spell build over from the current meta to the 1.20.3 meta, 1 extra skill point in an offensive stat will generally equal a % boost equal to that amount of spell %. Mage builds gain proportionately a little more because they tend to use raw spell more, and we all know that % is worth slightly less on mage than on other classes (The effective damage bonus is the same, it's just that since % is worth slightly less and raw is used more in the current meta of builds, it translates to slightly more effectiveness from the sp vs % spell damage calculation)

    This does generally point to the fact that for focusing on damage, it might be stronger to use finesse or other skill point boosters now over yang for certain builds.
    Finesse has 5 extra dex = 10-20% extra spell damage depending on build and class, versus yang's 12% spell damage advantage.

    i don't have enough testing to determine if it matters but eden-blessed gets laughed at by the fact that wfas dropping it can throw leftovers into offense for cheap dps (str/dex curves benefit more at lower investments).
