Back at it again for people who want to become one with the Lore and Wiki because yes

This one is going to be about the Colossus and other lore tied to the Colossi as well.
Italicized - Key thing to a subject

While there are only 2 known Colossi in the game (3 if you count the one in the Gylia Plains), it makes sense to think there could have been many in the past, which is why I am going to use the term ‘Colossi’ when speaking about characteristics of the species, and I’m going to use a specific proper noun (The Canyon Colossus, as an example) to talk about a specific one.

To start with, Colossi seem to reproduce like a Sea Star, cut off one part, it will just regrow, and partly cut off part will regenerate into a whole new being (Duri). There are only 3 (4 technically) known stages of a Colossus maturing, so there could be other stages that are not revealed in the game yet. The first stage is this, a Colossus Spawn:

While not directly confirmed, it is also pretty likely that another Rare Mob in the Gylia Plains, called a Plains Guardian, is probably the second stage in its life, slightly resembling a Villager, which could also hint towards them being made with ancient Villager magic:

Following the Spawn stage or Plains Guardian stage, it then becomes even larger, this time fusing its legs with the ground, which although rendering it immobile, is more powerful than it was in its previous stages (The Ancient Ones). However, it will also begin to lose its Villager-like facial features, which could mean there is a secret 4th (or 5th) stage of its life that is currently unknown. They are also called ‘Goliaths’ by scholars researching them (The Grand Archive). Their aging process is also incredibly slow, taking a millennium to mature to this stage (Camar):

Of course, the most recognized and well-known stage of its life is the Colossus stage. They become titanic beasts, with their heads big enough to possibly see over the entire Canyon of the Lost itself. This is also where their power reaches its max, as, well, I’ll get into that later:

While this is theorycrafting territory, many clues add up to the fact that the Colossi were built by Ancient Rune-Wielding Villagers (credit goes to Da Corruption for the theory), as Camar states: “[The Goliath outside the house] is made out of metal that not even the dwarves recognize and covered in runes not even the elves could decipher,” which hints towards the fact that the Goliath, and by an extension maybe even the Colossi themselves, are created with runic magic, and with that, possibly being one of the last monuments to the impressive ancient civilization.

While this is theorycrafting territory again, it could mean the Canyon of the Lost (and by an extension, the Ahms Region) were formerly luscious plains, and the Canyons were made by the Colossi as they defended the area from threats inside it.

However, one thing to note is that after the Ancient Villagers disappeared, another species, the Doguns, began to not control the Colossi, but rather calm them when overreacting to minor threats (The Broken Protector). How are they able to interact with it in a similar way to the Ancient Villagers? The answer remains unknown. The most plausible theory in my opinion is just the fact that the Doguns are molders of the Earth.

However, where the real juicy lore gets in is the year 0 AP, which marks a key event in the Ahms Region. The Ahms Colossus, began to act haywire. Again, there is no clear explanation as to why it acts berserk, so the most plausible theory here is that it possibly could have been from the Parasite breaching into Gavel. However, it does not matter what caused the Ahms Colossus to go berserk, and for some reason, the Doguns were not able to calm to Ahms Colossus, as the Villagers inhabited the area instead. Because the Villagers were unable to calm the Ahms Colossus, an event known as the Fracturing occurred (The Fallen Protector). As such, the Ahms Region began to split into two, the land that remained above became the Sky Islands, while the land that the Ahms Colossus sank became islands inside The Void.

The Void acts essentially as a bridge between Realms. Does this mean the Colossus shares any massive relation to the Plane of Influence (the major realms like the Realm of Light & Dern, forgot to mention it in Part 1)? As far as I can tell, no. In the quest, One Thousand Meters Under, you access the Void by simply descending from the Sky Islands, which could possibly mean, digging straight down to bedrock (euphemism for reaching the Void), can happen anywhere on the Physical Plane, and is by an extension, the furthest the Plane of Influence and the Physical Plane can touch together. Why do I bring this up? The Secret Discovery, Space Between Realities. As much as the Silent Expanse is the Land of Darkness, it just has different access points to the Void, rather than being the area where all of the Void eventually reaches. However, that is not to say there is alien biology similar to the Silent Expanse, as the Villagers that survived the fall into the Void began to change characteristics compared to the regular Villagers, such as elongating words that have an ‘oo’ sound like looooooooook at this, and their eyes also have a purplish glow to them, rather than green eyes like other Villagers. However, for what the Void is, if it IS a bridge between Realms, then there could possibly be a ‘Void Wasteland’ where those unfortunate enough to fall off of the Sky Islands end up.

Ok, that ended up being a huge talk about what the Void is, so I’ll get back to the main topic.

So, this right here is theorycrafting territory again, how are the Doguns able to reach the Colossus? Well remember, they are molders of the Earth (Subterranean Creation), even if a hot summer day in the Canyon of the Lost is still sub-zero temperatures for them, they can still carve their way through, possibly creating a ‘Molten Tunnel’ to reach the Canyon Colossus, although it is never seen in any discoveries.

However, there was a major threat to the Doguns, and by an extension, the Canyon of the Lost, and that was the Dwarves. The Dwarves presumably began to be forced out of their native location in the Canyon of the Lost by the imperialistic ways of the Villagers in 100 AP (Dwarves and Doguns Part I), and the only location they could flee to were the Molten Heights, the native habitat of the Doguns.

The Doguns themselves, while tolerating the presence of the Dwarves initially, became worried of their actions, and eventually, a war started. I’ll get into the full details of the Dogun War in a later thread, but to put it short, the Dwarves won the war and began hunting down Doguns, by pouring water on them, freezing them into stone, being unable to move, think, or speak. However, the near-extinction of the Doguns (or mass immobilization) caused the Colossus to act more haywire than before. As such, the Colossus began to do the same thing the Ahms Colossus did to the Ahms Region hundreds of years before, fracture the land to be nothing more than a memory that once was, and if it continues, it might not even be able to save itself like the Ahms Colossus.

However, it hasn’t exactly Fractured the area like the Ahms Colossus did. While it has broken off some of the land outside of it, and thus falling into the Void, instead, it shifts the Canyons (Canyon Housing), making them maze-like and nigh-impossible to navigate, as maps created a few years ago could be different from the maze that it is now. However, there could also be a sign that the Colossus is getting more aggravated, which are sky-blue streaks across the ground, the same color of the veins in the Canyon Colossus, and also creating earthquakes whenever a streak appears, which could possibly even send some houses underground into caves where there is barely any sunlight (Cracked Canyon).

However, while the Canyon of the Lost is shifting, it does make a better alternative for living than rather being stuck in the wasteland of the Dark Forests and Olux Swamp, since at least food can grow there, compared to the Decayed areas. In fact, the Decay can’t even touch the Canyon of the Lost because of the Colossus (The Great Barrier), since the Decay is caused by Parasites leeching off of the light of the area, and because the Colossus keeps them out, that is why the Canyon of the Lost, and by an extension, the Molten Heights and the Sky Islands, will never suffer the effects of Decay.

While this technically could not be considered canon (since it’s a Raid), you unlock access to a Raid at Lv. 95 called ‘The Canyon Colossus,’ which is exactly what it sounds like. In the fight, you see a heading at the beginning of the fight saying the Defense System is activated, and after the first phase is over, it says the Defense System has failed, which possibly shows that the Ancient Villagers, like the Olm, are actually the most technologically advanced civilizations, with the Corkians falling a little short. This thing can literally reproduce itself and determine the fate of an entire region. However, after the Canyon Colossus is defeated, you get greeted with this message after finishing the Raid, “As you prevent the Colossus from collapsing, it returns to its previous state as the Canyon’s protector,” showing that whatever malfunction caused the Colossus to continue its efforts in shattering the Canyon of the Lost is now gone.

??? BP - The Colossus is created by the Ancient Villagers using Runes.

After 1400 BP - The Ancient Villagers disappear. The Doguns keep the Colossus in check instead.

0 AP - The Colossi begin to act haywire, The Ahms Colossus fractures the Ahms Region, splitting it into the Sky Islands and the Void. A Colossus Spawn settles in the Gylia Plains.

300 AP - The Doguns are hunted by the Dwarves to become immobilized, causing the Canyon Colossus to act haywire.

300-1000 AP - The Canyon Colossus begins to shift the land around it.

1000 AP - A Goliath is found in the Gylia Plains from the Colossus Spawn that settled there earlier. The Canyon Colossus is calmed again by players defeating it.

    • No Amogus jokes please that game died like 5 months ago
    • The Goliath in the Gylia Plains is sometimes called ‘The Lad’ by the Staff Team and Community from the July CT News 2020.
      • In the 1.20 Changelog, as a part of @HalfCat_ ‘s credits, the Colossus is also referred to as the ‘Archlad.’
Idk what to put here so yes.

I made that theory, not Blast, btw

Other than that, this looks good. While the Colossus reproduction stages are a bit iffy (I still think they were simply built since otherwise the Goliaths would've matured into Colossi), everything else seems correct, and the theories aren't too far fetched. Good job, you're doing god's work

Since Secret Discoveries were confirmed to be based on Breath of the Wild shrines, who is to say that some of this Wynn lore isn't also?

    For example:

    Sheikah: Rune villagers
    The great calamity: The Equinox
    Calamity Ganon: Dern beast/Parasite
Guardian: Goliath, mini goliaths could be like guardian scouts
Divine beasts: Colossus, 2 colossus have yet to be unearthed or something

I think it would be pretty interesting if the ancient rune civilisation were based on the Sheikah and stuff like that

Been playing BOTW again as I await the sequel next year so it has been on my mind a lot

Pretty sure all raid first completions and their resolutions are canon and then all following raids are not

Even if there is 2 hours left on the poll, I think it's safe to say Part 3 will be The Olm.
