Runescape + Minecraft = Wynncraft?

To me it feels like Wynncraft is an MMO heavily inspired by RS, that just happens to use MC as it's Engine

Am I alone in feeling like this?

It's just a vibe I get, especially with Professions in the game now.
But the DNA was there even before that.

As someone who's Quested in both games, I can tell you the experiences are remarkably similar.

Big, open worlds to explore with lots of nooks and crannies to investigate.

Disconnected, non-linear narratives with no real "Main Campaign" to follow, but tons of deep lore to engage in.

Strip away the obvious superficial differences and I feel like a lot of peopl who've played both games are gonna at least see where I'm coming from with this.

 

Runescape was actually one of the reasons I played Wynn, since they are both MMORPGs it was really cool to get a similar experience, but in first person and with more control.

And I think some of the quests were actually inspired by some of the quests from Runescape.

but ye i definitely feel you with the lack of a "main campaign" and the charms of it in an open-world rpg. also the quests being designed to immerse you into the game's own world through lore and just talking with NPCs is really reminiscent of runescape and very refreshing compared to most MMORPGs, where all quests are just "fetch me this ty heres ur reward"

 

There's definitely some similarities but not enough to where I would call wynncraft the minecraft runescape. Big different is that runescape is much more open, you can get to max level in many skills without ever attacking a single enemy, compared to wynncraft where to have to level up to do anything outside of just standing in Detlas at the trade market all day or craft stuff you gathered using an alt.

You could point out just as many similarities with ffxiv, a game where you can play different classes on the same account, same as wynncraft.



It's probably more accurate to say Minecraft + mmorpg = wynncraft.

 

i actually got here from runescape because i was looking for a minecraft version to mess around in, found this and got hooked, and now here i am
