How Do I Get Across The Ravine In The Tutorial?

Nobody is helping, its getting annoying. In the tutorial after you get through the mine and identify the item (I got a helmet), you have to find a way across the ravine. I've seen people say you have to chop down the tree next to the ravine, however I can't seem to find out how to do this, and nobody will explain how. I have no axe, I have nothing but some emeralds and a helmet. How do I chop down this tree?

Also, I can't even skip the tutorial cause I'm not allowed to go back to the beginning area.

Nevermind, the world I was on got glitched I guess. There was no "Press Right Click to Push The Tree". I've got it now. Seems a whole world is glitched for the tutorial though.
