Hey! I'm Yerin! Now that I have your attention, I wanted to show you all this, the incredibly detailed lore and backstory on the cities, and meanings of things in the game. There are several things I could have missed or gotten wrong, so please don't take this as a 100% given fact. Also, I did this for fun, and as mentioned in the notes, mainly only mentioned the major references! I hope you enjoy reading this ❤️

Detlas: Salted, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Almuj: Jumla, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Rymek: Mekyr, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.

Thanos: Nohats, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Bantisu: Tantibus, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Kitrios Barracks: (NOT SURE ON THIS ONE) Kiriost is a miniboss in Dwarves and Doguns Part I. Speaking of D&D part I, Ockar of the unseen blade is an anagram of Ackro, a former hybrid according to the wiki.
Kitrios Barracks: is named after Sitriok, also an ex builder.
Dogovi: GoodVibes, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Kandon-Beda: AbandonedBank, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Jofash: Shtafjord, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Nodguj-Dujgon: Gudjon, a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Courag: the old dogun city is Courag, an anagram of Aucorg
Llevigar: Villager, villagers are the most common type of NPC in the game.
Not all of these are necessarily accurate, but most *if not all* cities are named after important members of the community!

Shrek: Shrek, this was the main character in the movie "Shrek" made in 2001.
Praesidium (Weapon): Means protection in Latin, you can translate this for yourself
Zodiac Armor: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. These were signs in more ancient civilizations.
Third Eye: Reference to a third eye of wisdom in Buddhism.
Papyrus: Direct reference to a plant/paper, as it is weak to fire and water, but gives very good experience bonuses. Not a reference to Undertale as the item was made before it came out.
Sans: Undertale character named after a font. Undertale was a game created in 2015, this is one of the hardest bosses in said game
Maro: Omar, a place that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member.
Predposledni: A word in Bulgarian meaning "Penultimate"
Heliophilia and Heliophobia: Meaning "Love for the Sun" and "Fear of the Sun"
Erratio: The stats for it, as well as numerous mobs in the desert such as the Wayward Vagabond and Withered Quasinobility: References to the webcomic Homestuck.
Luth: is the Zulu word for "nothing".
Tosach: appears to be Irish for "beginning"
Dullahan: is almost certainly based on or inspired by The Dullahan, who also lost their head at some point.
Maxie, Maex, and Axelus: Named after CT manager Imaxelius.
Dern: Dern means darkness, which is fitting for it being in the silent expanse (not released, not confirmed)
Fruma: means "origin" in old english
Ackro: Corak (an NPC in Aldorei's Secret Part II) Kroac (An NPC in The Shadow of the Beast) and Karoc (Quarry) are all anagrams of Ackro
WCT Enireva: The big ship off the corkus coast, named WCT Enireva is an anagram of the ex-builder Averine
Antikythera: may be a reference to one of the first computers ever made, the Antikythera Mechanism, having as many as 37 bronze gears inside that allowed it to predict astronomical stuff decades in advance!
Legolus and Elrund and Bulbo: are (pretty obviously) named after Legolas and Elrond from Lord of the Rings.
The Dark Artificer NPC: talks about a weapon named the Kirschblute, which is a reference to Kirschblüte, the name of the anthem of the Xin-Xi in Polytopia. The dialogue is also based off of the way that Zom Zom the Far-Out, from Little Big Planet 3, who runs Zom Zom's Fashion Emporium.
Saundersi Signet: references a type of ant named "colobopsis saundersi", which can self destruct by autothysis, spraying a sticky corrosive glue in all directions
Legendary Island: is weirdly similar to that of the True Arena in Kirby Triple Deluxe and Robobot in that there is an optional challenge once you have completed the game which allows you to take on bosses you have taken on prior in beefed up forms ending with a boss that is entirely different to any boss you have fought prior. But again this could be just a tribute to boss rushes in general.
Eldritch Outlook: when The Eye opens up its mouth is almost certainlly a reference to the second phase of the Eye of Cthulhu in Terraria.
Monolith (Realm of Light): the cubes are based off of the infusion altar from Thaumcraft.
Spooky Scary Skeleton: Found along the Nemract road, is just there to be cool and is a nice detail.

Studying the Corrupt: During this quest, you meet "Pottur, Dumble and Dure" which when rearranged, it probably refers to Harry Potter's "Potter and Dumbledore"
Order of the Grook: During this quest, there are several references to Harry Potter, including the ceremony and the beginning, the running through the wall, and the shops at the main island for the magic.
Grave Mistake: JaydonTheWarrior and two other players have graves in this quest.
The Maiden Tower: You meet Shrek who like said previously, resembles Shrek.
Headless History: Dullahan collecting souls from Gelibord citizens to free himself is likely a reference to Asgore from Undertale. In the quest, you jump into paintings, Mario 64 style. The boss ''Warden of Wisdom'' is probably a reference to Brain of Cthulhu from Terraria.
Aldorei's Secret Part I: Korben, the criminal in Aldorei's Secret Part I, is an anagram of 'broken', a reference to the ex-GM brokenmotor, who was in charge of the quest before I took over.
In Realm of Light V: the monolith room sections are likely a reference to the backrooms supported by the very similar corridors and the Lurking Anathema which haunts the place similar to the creatures which exist in the backrooms.
Also in Realm of Light V: "Your Reflection" could be a reference to the final boss of Zelda II Link to the past although a lot of games have taken on this boss format since then so I wouldn't be surprised if it had another origin.
-Realm of Light IV: 99.9% of people likely found this already in Realm of Light IV the plant "Canned Abis" you get to try wake up the tree is an obvious reference to the drug of the very similar name.
A Hunter's Calling: the Final Boss(es) Aledar and Tasim maybe inspired by the infamous Dark Souls 1 boss(es) Ornstein and Smough in which after you kill one of them the other one becomes extremely buffed up and and entirely different move set leading to two entirely different boss variations depending on who you killed first.
Shattered Minds: The strutting and rambling mushrooms in Shattered Minds are references to the scrambling evil mushroom enemy from Earthbound
Misadventure on the Sea: Misadventure on the Sea is in fact a reference to a craftedmovie skit called Misadventure on the Sea
Forbidden Prison: Kaetan is an anagram of AscendedKitten; Taron is an anagram of Aarontti; The quest and location are heavily based off of the IRL prison USP Atlanta; Some of the themes and gameplay ideas were inspired by The Escapists; as well as Escape from Pelican Rock Island from Poptropica; The Warden was inspired by the former warden of USP Atlanta, Darlene Drew.

    NOTES:
    • Almost every item in all of Wynncraft has incredible backstory and lore and history, it would be impossible to list it all. These are just some of the more well-known ones!
    • Secondly, I could have gotten several of the "a city that is named after an anagram of a staff / content team member." and those were just my assumptions that they were named after those people!
    • Thirdly, this post was just something I did for fun, and I really only did it because I believed it would be interesting for people to know.
    • Fourthly, if I did miss any, please tell me what I missed, and where it references! I would like to know and so I can update this!
    • Finally, I just wanted to thank you all for reading this <3

a few more i can think of off the top of my head:

    • The stats for the item Erratio, as well as numerous mobs in the desert such as the Wayward Vagabond and Withered Quasinobility, are references to the webcomic Homestuck.
    • Lutho is the Zulu word for "nothing".
    • Tosach appears to be Irish for "beginning"

    There's 3 in Headless History:

Dullahan collecting souls from Gelibord citizens to free himself is likely a reference to Asgore from Undertale
In the quest, you jump into paintings, Mario 64 style
The boss ''Warden of Wisdom'' is probably a reference to Brain of Cthulhu from Terraria.
    ________________________________
There's also a bunch of Undertale reference items made by Selvut after they created Papyrus, Sans being one of them. These include:
    ASGORE.PNG
    Finally.PNG
    SpareRun.PNG
    weregoingtobetogetherforeverarentwe.PNG
    youarefilledwithDETERMINATION.PNG
    youregonnahavetotryalittleharderthanthat.PNG
All of these have been confirmed to be Undertale references by Selvut, and Papyrus, while not initially a reference to undertale, is pretty much classed as one since the feedback from that item inspired all of these

    There's also this:
    squidward.PNG
Which is of course a Spongebob reference
