    the sun revolves around the player not the world, this can be seen in creative by flying really high

    The Sun IS actually revolving, but not around the WORLD, but the PLAYER. You can see it if you get really high, the moon is at your feet.

    In Minecraft, not all of the world exists at one time, only that which is near to the player. Therefore, the sun can revolve around the world, as it is essentially on an island that changes with the player's movement.
