SPOILER The Easiest Moral Dilemma Ever In An Rpg

So for those of you who have ever done the quest "underice", you know what I'm about to talk about. You get the everlasting pufferfish, and then you're forced to choose who to give it to. You get to choose between a squid king who will use the pufferfish to feed not just his own colony, but will also feed Nesaak's villagers because they won't need to steal fish anymore, aaaand... you guessed it. Some random old guy who thinks he needs this pufferfish more for.... god knows what reason! He won't even say what he wants it for!

So yeah like if you're actually roleplaying here and trying to make the right decision, it's a super easy choice. Feed hundreds of people (and squid people) for life, or feed this one dude for life. Besides, he's old, who knows how much life he even has left! If he were to die, what would happen to the pufferfish? Would it just rot away in his icebox or whatever food-freezing technology they had during this time?

But if you're not roleplaying you'll probably just give it to whoever's reward you need more, so I guess it doesn't really matter to most players lol but if you're one of the few that actually attempt to roleplay this game, you'll have no trouble making your choice for this quest.

 

Just because there aint no squid named sqiggles i will give the pufferfish to the old man every single time out of spite towards squid kind

 

I guess so, Gernald of Rivia the world-famous witcher is pretty high up on the list of people I'd want to give a mythical fish to.

 

We must let the squid folk starve until Salted sees the light and rightfully bequeaths us Squiggles, the unkillable squid

 

I always saw it as "oh no if i dont give the squids the fish the nessak people will starve oh wait they took all the foods from the original inhabitants the squid guys oh ok then they can die idrc"

 

I'm not sure why you couldn't double-check before you posted this, but it's very clear that he wants it out of nostalgia for his old friend who spent his whole life for it.
(By the way, this isn't some attempt to suggest this is the better option or something, just pointing out he does, in fact, have a reason.)

WTF? It's not as if they knew there were squid people.
Frankly, if anything, it's at the fault of the squid people, they could have come out, and talked about it and make some sort of rationing system or simple agreement.
Genocide isn't good, even if you think it's just because it's by your own hands.

Uh I'm not sure if you know how exactly squids work, but I'm fairly sure that squids can't breathe air lmao

I don't actually see any dialogue that suggests that "clearly", all his dialogue suggests is that he wants the fish, and he thinks his old friend would be proud of the player for his decision. Never does it say anything about WHY the dude wants the fish

BTW I'm not sure what you mean by "double check" before posting, I literally just did the quest and read all the dialogue, thats why this came to mind to post

I really hope you guys never have a pet squid and try to talk it for a walk then wonder why your squid isn't working properly

 

ok but consider that the old man is right there and if i wanted to give it to the squids i'd have to walk. all the way over there. so much easier to just give it to him

then why did the guy try to HIRE YOU to go in there with a breathing helmet and solve the mystery? If they could swim in that water, they wouldn't need to hire some random guy

squids are also neither bipedal nor freshwater, but that doesn't stop wynncraft squids.

 

Ok 50% squid 50% man, that means they can only breathe 50% of the required breath to survive therefore DEATH because anything less than 100% is just not good enough

I'm fairly sure the cave is INTENDED to be underwater, they just can't actually fill the cave with water because minecraft mechanics wouldnt allow you to stay under there for as long as you need to

 

Why are yall trying so hard to make sense of a quest that makes 0 sense?

But... But... It can feed the whole universe... So why does this choice even matter? Just extract the meat, and distribute it, bam, Meaningful Holiday is pointless.
It's the easisest dilemma because there is no dilemma.
