Community Event The Gladiatorial Championships!

Hi everyone, for the past month or two, I have been working on building a PvP arena in my housing and it's basically finished now :)

Welcome to the Gladiatorial Championships!

I will be hosting a PvP tournament on the 10th and 11th April 2021.
Hopefully, this can become a monthly event if I have enough money to fund the prizes!


How it will work:

Leave a reply on this thread with you IGN and Discord (if you have one) if you would like to enter.

There is now no entry free, but feel free to donate XD At the moment, the total prizes will be costing me 34le; however, in future events, if more people are interested, I can raise the prizes.

I will be making a list of all the people who have signed up and on the days of the event, I will contact people randomly to enter the arena for their fight (the fighting part will take place on the 10th and 11th of April)

Who you will fight will be completely random.

After your fight, I will record the names of the winners and then others can fight.

In the standard tournament form, if you win, you move through to the next round and this will continue until the final few rounds.

Because of the tournament format, I can only accept participants in orders of 2 (so, 32, 64, 128, 256 participants etc.). Every time we hit a 'milestone' (one of these numbers), I will announce it on the Discord and on here too. If we are really close to a milestone and have, say, 61 participants, I will allow late entries and extend the fighting days.



Prizes!

First place: 16le, your name immortalised on the “Board of Champions”, access to the “Greatest Fighters Channel” and “Ultimate Champion Channel” on Discord.

Second place: 8le and access to the “Greatest Fighters Channel” on Discord.

Third place: 4le and access to the “Greatest Fighters Channel” on Discord.

Fourth place: 2le and access to the “Greatest Fighters Channel” on Discord.

Anyone who makes it into the quarter-finals (4 players): 1le


Rules:


Rules (spectators):

1. During a fight, no-one may enter the arena. If anyone does, they will be kicked from the event.

2. You may NOT throw items into the arena during a duel; however, after a battle has ended, you may throw emeralds down into the arena for the participants.

3. Do not spam the chat.



Rules (fighters):

1. No consumables. If you use consumables, you will never be allowed to participate in any future events and your name will be added to “The board of cheats”.

2. Once the duel has begun, you may not leave the arena. This includes sitting on the ledge to the viewing area. If you land there by accident, IMMEDIATELY enter back into the arena.



Onto the final part...

I have had mixed opinions and comments from people about whether or not poison builds should be allowed in this Championship and I have taken this on board. I CANNOT host two separate events, one for non-poison and one for all-inclusive builds, it would costs too much, take too much time and I don't want to split this event into different sections like that.
So, I am letting you, the community decide. This decision may change for future events, but for this first one, you can decide by making a choice in the poll above.

No poison builds should be allowed, but it should be ok to have poison dmg since items like contrast exist. Maybe consider making the challenge work with everyone in morph or sth

Looking forward to the event! I have a few moderation suggestions.

- Before each fight, have both parties /class to reset any buffs in case any consumables were used before.

-Depending on build restrictions, there will obvisously be proof needed of what the players have equipped. Wynntils covers the armors, but accessories would be more complicated, although they shouldn't have a high impact as you can't get enough poison to be notable amounts of damage.

- You can have the fighters screenshot their inventory to show that no consumables are on them. However, I would consider allowing 1-3 vanilla healing potions per player as against a mage, there is not much you can do if they can spam heals or shamans that can use totems, though not as powerful. It wouldn't be much fun if the entire tournament's meta consisted of tanks attempting to outlast each other.

- Something else I would consider is limiting each player to using one class and build of their choice (kept private) so nobody can try to buuld themselves to counter an opponent.

Of course at the end of the day, this is your event, this is just what I suggest. Good luck!

 

No poison above 1000 maybe? Idk I'm not good at damage calculation. Also, is trift healspam allowed?

As an aside, I would suggest that the rounds be best of 3. Wynn PvP is painful, and often just a game of who can land a hit first. As such, I think it would make more sense to not just leave it largely up to rng.

 

opinion: tournaments should be white rarity weapons and armor, to make a level playing field
this is to prevent some guy strolling up with like cataclysm and 1tapping everyone

I don't really want to participate if they are
They just completely ruin the fun of pvp
when you are fighting a cactus build you have 2 options: 1. attack them and die or 2. wait for the duel timer to expire
also if 2 people with cactus builds fight each other the fight will last forever
the tournament should ban all the items that make you unkillable and make you do 0 damage. For example King of hearts and the stupid hpr amulet

 

the amulet of rejuvenation is no longer anywhere near as strong as it was since its hpr% got nerfed to high hell. it's now just kinda useless

 

It still adds absolutely nothing to the fights and makes hpr tank builds ALOT tankier while making them do 0 damage

By the looks of it, poison will not be allowed in the tournament. I will keep the poll open for a day or two longer though.

I will add this to the rules: Cactus builds will be banned as they are skill-less and unfun.
I'm not sure about amulet of rejuvenation though - I'll make a poll for it on the Discord I think
