For in depth lore, you should ask @TrapinchO for that, but for general lore, there are two realms fighting each other and left some bad stuff on the world, so all you have to do is beat up the bad stuff.

Welcome to Wynn!

For most things, including lore, the wiki is a great tool if you want more information about the game, or guides for anything.

As for the lore itself, there's quite a lot of it, but the main thing is that you're fighting a dangerous force called the Corruption that's been ravaging the Wynn province for 1000 years. There's a bit more about how Corruption is created, where it comes from, other forces involved, etc., but I don't want to go too deep into that for fear of spoiling things for you. If you don't care about spoilers, you can try checking for pages related to the corruption on the wiki for more explanations.

ok so:
once upon a time there were someone, they all died/moved to dark realm due to some magic crystals, but one of them might have survived and stayed in the wynn province
then some miner guys found a portal with lots of moni, they exploited that portal but the portal didnt like that, and thats how the corruption, the force that proceeds to bully wynn for the next 1000 years, appears.
then light and dark fight and they form decay in the process, oh and did i mention that corruption actually appeared from light and dark fighting? yeah well im mentioning it now, thats basically how corruption and decay, the force that proceeds to bully gavel for the next *long*, appears, oh and the elf that was meant to kill the thing that spread decay decided to use power of friendship to beat it.....it didn't work and their friend died and THEY STILL TRY TO SOLVE EVERYTHING WITH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
then some bob guy comes and bullies corruption, he then dies in order to seal something and his death is also faked by one of his friends, so he is basically actually dead but his death is faked
meanwhile doguns are being slaughtered by dwarves and now basically the whole world is being bullie-
"hi!" said corkians, they took an island, and bullied avos with factories and stuff, until one factory that was exploited by corkians pulls a no u and begins to create bots that bully corkus(sounds familiar?)
ok now the entire world is being bullie-
oh right fruma...uhhh....there really isnt much info about it other than that it has tyrany and there is no war inside the Fruman walls.
well now i can certainly say the entire world is being bullied
ok so then the player comes along, they rob 2 banks, commit several war crimes, end some wynnexcavation that was planning to save the world, murder faken't bob, go on drugs, and then murder an eye of pretty much the main antagonist around 79 times, and then-
yeah thats pretty much it for now, i only went over this briefly, there is probably A TON of details i missed/inaccuracies in the timeline

Welcome to the forums, the lore of Wynncraft is good. (I know that's not what you're asking but I don't care)

 

This is both beautiful and accurate

 

upcoming main storyline leaks:

theres a player (you) and this player does stuff for people and the player is a pretty swell person (besides all the crimes and morally grey stuff)

No. I’ve always disliked Hypixel.

 

I mean, I've played hypixel before, but no, wynncraft is my home.

The main story has already been gone over, but there's tons more details. If you want to learn more, I ssuggest actually playing through the game, but if you don't have time/are just impatient you could do some intense wiki studying to learn stuff

 

To put it simply (yet correctly, unlike someone):
You are a bad human so Fruma says "F*** off my land, die to some weird plague in Wynn instead".
Then you become Ragni's worst guard, as you desert soon at level 5 and you keep the uniform apparently, since people still think you are from Ragni's army.
Unlike most deserters you seem to do mainly goood stuff though cough cough robbing banks, killing the best pet ever, stealing from internation secret organisation cough COUGH!
Then you almost die of hypothermia in some tundra just to meet the nicest guy ever who made eternal Christmas in Nesaak because kids wanted more presents.
Then you fight a cow and rip its heart to get access into Kelight's fan club.
Because you are done with Wynn you say "I never liked that place anyways..." and sail after the other cows you met.
And there the locals point out your only cosmetic imperfection - a small nose.
Then you meet someone who has not changed for 800 years because they are too lazy to change and they show you that they messed up EVERYTHING when they could just.... fix it.
And because they are incompetent they allow you to go on a raid which has the most boring bossfight ever.
Apparently you are a stalker, as you meet them later in their home. They tell you that you are dumb, but after you are too lazy to leave you somehow get into a weird thing that gives you training for your path to meet Yahya Final form (by this I mean Taproot of course).
Later you make the person change and go with them to too bright place to beat a poor dog that did not deserve it.
A bit before that you decide to meet Yahya again and when you are doing it you meet some of friends and dance flamingo.

After that you want to take a break, so you decide to get new troll hair, as the old one is starting to break down for some reason.
Then you mean a some random and blind guy that needs to wear giant googles who tells you "Mo'in, I know you came here for the magic, but come to our island, we have none, you will love it!" and because they are not just blind but also forgetful they do not tell you about the [well, they don't tell you, you know...]
Later you decide to beat the real dog and because you are really dumb you destroy his computer as well. You monster...
Then you become a cow and meet even older friend (no, I will not say it, you weirdoes) (to LivelyBunch: nothing bad, just... you will see)
THEN YOU TRAVEL TO DISCWORLD AND MEET WITH A VERY INTERESTING CHARACTER.
Because their decorations were a bit depressive you decide to go on a bit more colorful place and to sleep in theatre, but you can't sleep and you learn some stuff about really hot people.
They convince you to do their bidding for the rest of your holidays, which ends up in breaking demon's heart.
Then you cook because you are bored and perhaps you meet a very nice character everyone loves.
Then you decide to get yourself drunk to forget everythin you have seen but instead an old amigo of yours show up and is like "hey, come with me and the company, it will be a great and safe adventure!" What he doesn't tell is how to get back...

Spoiler: Serious lore now

(just topics, I do not want to spoil too much)

You get exiled from Fruma because reasons.
You have to fight the Corruption because it raises the undead which kill people.
There was a civilisation in the Desert that relies on a sceptre.
Twains exist and some of them are really cool and some hot.
Light and Dark are fighting, creating Corruption.
The Decay is created by Darkness.
A Collossus is going haywire and you need to calm it down (apparently by damaging it enough to force the mechaic to come and fix it lol)
Corkus is innhabited by bird-people, humans and factory run by AI (standard stuff I guess, ypu see where is this going)
Dwarves are jerks and cool down Doguns who were there just peacefully living.
There is a Dark place hidden behind mountains previously inhabited by guys who knew time magic, now hidden by a giant ugly eyeball.
