SPOILER Are The Maro Peaks An Extension Of The Canyon Of The Lost?

The Maro Peaks are in the ocean directly south of the Canyon, and the mountains on the Gavel coast there seem to be warped and distorted, which would make sense if they're being affected by the Colossus, so could the Maro Peaks be a former peninsula of Gavel that was shattered by the Colossus' magic? Or perhaps the Colossus has enough influence to warp the ocean floor there into the Peaks.

 

Both are a pain to navigate and you go there for 3 things in your life, i think you're onto something :thinking:

 

There needs to be a discovery in the Ocean for that.

I actually kinda came up with something about the Maro Peaks and the floating islands in the skies:

So the idea of the Secret Discovery is very simple, there will be a Light Blue vein that can be mined and when it is, a Miner in the Maro Peaks will run into a boat and sail away. The About Discovery section is about how the Colossus can affect the ocean, however, due to the mountains on the border, its effects on the Ocean are far weaker compared to that of the Canyons.

 

Honestly there just needs to be Ocean discoveries in general. The Ocean is completely pointless in late-to-endgame, it'd be nice to have a reason to go back there. Maybe add a raid in the Ocean too?

 

the ocean is pretty much completely pointless in all of the game, the ocean quests dont give good rewards (except the galoshes and redbeards dungeon i guess) and because of the extreme lack of content and depth to the ocean it just feels meaningless (also considering the fact that the ocean bottom is at y=24 so the depth is quite clutch) (also also kraken raid kraken raid kraken raid kraken raid kraken raid)

 

There needs to be an actual storyline surrounding the Ocean, which could culminate in access to a raid. Make Selchar a more useable city too, it already has a trade market, why not just go the full mile and give it the LE Merchant and Powder Master it's missing?

 

Hm, I kind of see where you're coming from, but how could the Colossus have shattered Maro Peaks if it hasn't shattered the canyon yet? I don't think it could have been the other colossus either, since it also didn't shatter the canyon, which is between Ahms and Maro Peaks. There's also currently no mention of Maro Peaks being shifted around like the canyon is, and there are no blue magic line things there - although, I think those could definitely be nice details to add in a future update to the area.

Actually, yeah that would make sense.
I mean, the sky islands also continue outside of gavel, it would make sense if the Cynon of the Lost does as well.

That being said, I am fairly sure this isn't canon... yet, as this is a really cool idea frankly.
Hopefully, this does become a thing, and the island and the mountain borders are both redesigned and rebuilt to better fit this as its lore.

I think that was hyperbole, there are more than 3.

 

It's required for Zhight Island and has a few decent mining spots. Pretty out of the way, though.

It would be cool if there was a path into CotL there, that you need completion of A Marauder's Dues to enter.

 

Perhaps continental drift could be forming “maro peaks” into an island slowly.
