Shaman Or Mage

Should I play shaman or mage if I like playing magic type classes.

 

There is nothing "magical" really about any of the classes. They all have spells. It's just that Shaman/Mage spells look more colorful, I guess.

Shaman and Mage do have self-heal spells, though. Mage is less glassy and has heal on demand while Shaman is more glassy and has passive heal from totem. I would recommend Mage and not Shaman on your first playthrough.

 

If this is your first time playing Wynncraft, I'd recommend Mage. He's the most beginner-friendly class, because he has decent defenses, simple abilities, self-heal, and decent damage output. Shaman can be a bit tricky for newcomers because of his fragility, which requires heavy investment in defense or agility points.

 

None of the classes are actually magic or melee oriented. All of them can do either. Spell warrior is totally a thing and it's not even that bad. Melee mage is also a thing, since mage's main attack is the best

 

Ice Bear says go with mage it has very good endgame potential when it comes to professions and lootrunning. Ice Bear says the rest of the class is decent too. Ice Bear says if you pick shaman and you decide you want to lootrun you will regret choosing the class.

 

I would say Mage is a better starter class than Shaman, since it has really good spells and the other stats will prepare you for classes that have a really good perk, but has a bad perk to balance it out (Archers have good Damage and Amazing Range, but have Poor Defense, Assassins deal a lot of damage and are fairly tanky, but have a really short range). Not to mention, one thing I haven't seen in this thread yet is that Shaman requires the use of a Totem, which makes some spells cost a lot more compared to other classes.

Tl;dr: Mage.
