    seems kinda useless. its just a pain to have to wait. is there some kind of game design thing that i dont understand or what

    It was added in 1.14 iirc.

    Before 1.14, you consumed Mana when you sprinted. I think it's supposed to be there to protect you from running out of mana when sprinting.

    I guess it substitutes for hunger in vanilla Minecraft. Otherwise, running endlessly would be kinda unbalanced

    sprinting makes circle strafing bosses really easy.

    but you already have enough sprint to fight bosses. i rarely find myself running out of sprint outside of travel

    from my experience it can be really op in endgame bosses but if that wasn't the reason then im not really sure

    there are bosses that can heavily require strafing for a long period of time such as mummyboard and qira phase 1 and 3
