How To Fix A Wii

I own a Wii that’s probably a decade old by now and I only ever use it when hanging out with my friends who aren’t that big on video games. Recently when I tried to reconnect my remotes after using them on another they would not connect. After about 5 minutes one connected but would not allow others to connect and the original remote disconnected after about a minute. Then about a week later I brought my remotes to a friends house and tried to connect them and the same thing happened. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

things I’ve tried
- unplugging the Wii and plugging it back in
- changing the batteries
- restarting my internet router (my Wii is connected to it)

 

they are not synced and that is the problem, they refuse to sync properly.
