Hey, has anyone seen the latest Pokemon Presents? What did you think (obviously about the upcoming games)?
If you wanted to see it, but haven't yet, but still clicked on this, ignore this thread until you've seen it (on YouTube)

I can't comment on anything besides the 2 Sinnoh ones because I've never heard of them lol (Snap)

For me, I'm excited since DPP was the gen I grew up with, and to be able to play a new version of them on the Switch is a boon. I especially like how they returned to a top-down view and what looks like a literal 1-1 remake of the map. Also, I'm sure gameplay will be much faster than the DS games.

But deep down, I somehow feel... unsatisfied? I was hyped at the trailer, but maybe it's because I wanted remakes instead of remasters (though, given Game Freak's more recent content, this was probably the most they could have done without messing something up - but aren't these developed by a different company anyway?) Maybe it's just the art style. To me it looks like the brightness is lower than usual and the lighting makes it look like a toy set you look down on rather than sunlight. I've seen many comments on the video speaking on this, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Now we will see BDSP everywhere. bruh it sounds sus since 3 of the letters are the same as [redacted]
I know they are faithful remakes, but it wouldn't hurt to add a little bit more content, right? Guessing (hoping) Platinum's content might get incorporated in some way.

As for the Legends game, it's cool. I just hope developing this many games since the SS Expansion Pass doesn't lower the quality of each of them, and like many others I'm glad they won't be releasing it for another year. I will also not be able to afford both a BD and this game, so maybe I'll get this one if the remakes actually turn out to just be remasters.

    My criticism about BD/SP:
I think the names could have been better, I really think it should have been Temporal Diamond and Celestial Pearl.

I'm not a huge fan of the graphics. They look more like something on the Wii or 3DS than a Switch. Right now, they look like a fan-game for DP remakes. However, the gameplay footage is not final, so there is hope that the end product won't look that bad.

I'm also not a fan of how stubby the characters are, I understand it's a faithful recreation, but they could have at least been a bit more like SM and SS's NPCs.

I feel like there should be some extra Pokemon sprinkled in there, as it would make it a bit more unique than DP. Personally, I would really appreciate that in a remake.

I really hope that there will be a post-game episode like ORAS had. Maybe it could be called Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Episode: Distorted Platinum.

Also please do not remove the Battle Frontier like ORAS did.

As for Legends, it looks like a fun take on the main series. I am almost certain that Arceus will not be an event Pokemon, which I am very happy for. I also really like the open-world aesthetic being taken on in that game. To me, Legends seems to be a unique take, and I'm definitely getting it when it comes out.

Personally, I was never super into generation 4 in the first place, but I still found the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl trailer to be somewhat underwhelming. After the trailer, Game Freak constantly spoke about trying to stay faithful to the original but I feel more as if they will just give us the original without updated graphics (and let's be real, those updated graphics aren't worth $60, not even as good as Sw/Sh graphics and those weren't even good considering what the switch is capable of). Honestly, if I wanna play the gen 4 games then I'll just get my 3ds out from my boxes and play it instead of buying the new games, which is why I decided that I won't be buying the new games just to be disappointed the same way I am with every main series game.

I do gotta say though, Pokemon Legends trailer filled me with some hope. If the framerate issues are fixed then I can easily see Game Freak doing something they haven't done in years - make a good game. I've personally always enjoyed the side games more than the main series games as well (Rangers and Mystery Dungeon games are where it's at), so if Legends can have a cohesive story along with the graphics we've seen, as well as some new engaging element, then imma be real happy with at least the direction that Game Freak is heading.
