Wyntils Not Working!

Hello! I am trying to download Wyntils, but have been unable to do so. Following the tutorial on their website, everything was going fine until I tried to open the Forge Installer. Instead of the install client window that popped up in the tutorial, I get this:

Attempting to directly open the Forge file from my Downloads folder results in the second image. I tried ignoring this and following with the tutorial step for step, but when the time came to open Minecraft the Wyntils installation was not there!!

What am I doing wrong? I'm directly following the tutorial but nothing is working. I noticed that in the video, Forge opened on some sort of Java client, do I need to download that or something first?? Also, I play Wynncraft on 1.9, is there a way to play with Wyntils on that version, or is there a better rendition of Minecraft I could be using?

 

yeah you might need to buy winrar to run it, it really is a pain

the reason its doing this seems to be cause the mod is stored in winrar (if you look you can see that the file is not being opened via the folder but instead by winrar)

Whilst this is isn't Wynncraft (or really Wynntils) related issue, the source of the problem is the way in which you are trying to install Forge. Basically, what you have opened there is the Forge jar (Java executable) file, and the WinRAR file explorer is showing you the jar's contents (source code).

Firstly, whatever you do, do not purchase WinRAR as it is unnecessary for the Forge installation process. What you are going to want to do is close out of that WinRAR window, and then install the Java Runtime Environment from the Oracle website here (select the one relevant to your computer and install it; you may have to create an account, because Oracle likes being annoying).

When you have installed the runtime environment, the icon for the Forge installer should change to a white one with a blue/orange illustration on it, this means that your installation was successful. Now, you can double click on the Forge installer like you would with any other application and it will guide you through the installation process.

I would strongly suggest searching on Google for "how to install Forge for Minecraft 1.12.2" if you are having further issues as, as I said, this forum isn't particularly dedicated to that.

Can I just download Java from this website so that Forge will work? It was the first result Google listed for "how to download java."

 

Get the Windows x64 version. Also, just to clear up any confusion, what you are installing from the Oracle website that I linked is Java.

 

No it depend on your pc check if it is 32 or 64

 

Yes, but truth is that most modern computers use a 64-bit architecture, and if that is not the case for this particular gentleman, then I am sure that the Java installer has some sort of failsafe mechanism to ensure that the improper version is not installed and that he is guided to the proper version.

I downloaded the Windows x64 version that was on the bottom, but it didn't work!! Once it finished downloading, it still opened in that accursed WinRAR program. I tried following the remaining steps in the Wynntils tutorial, but nothing worked. I'll try downloading Java from the aforementioned link and pray to Bob that it works..

Aaayyy! It works! I followed this tutorial for downloading Java, and got it setup on my computer. I then went to Forge's website and downloaded the 1.12.2 version, and I was a bit worried at first because the download has the WinRAR icon- but when I opened it, I was now presented with the option to use Java instead. I then proceeded to the Wynntils website, and downloaded the mod. It also had the WinRAR icon, and attempts to open it with Java in the downloads menu proved fruitless. So instead of starting over again and deleting everything, I followed the tutorial and moved it to a mods folder.
And when I opened my game, there it was! I'm logged into Wynncraft now with everything working perfectly, thank you!!

 

Good to hear. I was actually in the process of making a quick video to explain another possible way of going about this, but I am glad to know that you've solved your problem. Other than that, have a good one bro.
