So basically, during Beyond the Grave, Death basically tours you around his mansion and allows you to become alive again. However, there is proof that Death is actually just bringing pretty much anyone back to life. In every single dungeon except FF, there is no explanation why the bosses are revived and seem to have to problem in life whatsoever. I think Death is just lazy, and just revives pretty much anyone, including the guys your trying to kill. So basically, we have to kill the Eye over and over because Death couldn't care less what he does or does not.
I think the corrupted dungeons is actually the future. Because you were off in Dern(probably) trying to defeat the Dern Beast, thinking you beat up everything that posed a problem in Gavel and Wynn, Death just revives everyone and Wynn is consumed into a corrupted wasteland. Just because Death was lazy.

I mean doesn't he literally say he allows anyone to return because he's just bored?

I mean, even if that was cannon, the trial of death requires the person who wants to be revived to kill that wich killed them first, and if we're able to kill the dungeon bosses, with ease even, i doubt they could be revived since they need to kill us first, and if they do manage to kill us, we can do the death trial again and kill the boss that killed us, pretty much an endless cycle until death becomes bored of our nonsense and sends everyone to hell

Or there's some weird time paradox going on where as soon as you beat the dungeon time goes back just a bit to just before you entered the dungeon

This is just gameplay, without any look on lore.
I don't think there is a good reason why we would be able to fight them, because if they revive then it is just pointless.

As for the Forgery they might be resurrected because the Corruption has completely overrun the world

yep, i personally think the only one that couldn't ressurect would be arakadius and hashr, as all the others are corrupted in some way(or have an explanation like FF), and we know that corruption can bring back the dead.
