SPOILER Has No One Else Realised That Dern Is A Veiled Anagram Of “ender”?

First off, I’m not going to rehash the dern beast = ender Dragon idea. That’s been done well here by @Samsam101

All I’d like to say is that Dern, the name of both the real of darkness and it’s corporeal form (the dern beast) contains the letters of “ender” rearranged with one e dropped off probably because “dern” sounds better than “deern” or “derne”.

This also parallels regular minecraft where the dimension is called the ender/the end and the ruler of the dimension the ender dragon (ender=dern, dragon=beast).

In addition to all the other dern (beast) related theories and the removal of the end portal near detlas this provides further evidence that dern will be similar to the end.

 

The atmosphere would be great to set it into the End. Dark, alien, but (hopefully) not as peaceful as the vanilla End.

 

Have you heard of the lycanite’s mobs mod? It’s well known for being in RLcraft and it makes the end much more chaotic

 

I think it's more likely it's connected to Old/Middle English. After all, Wynn was a runic letter used in Old and Middle English, and Dern is a real word (though somewhat obsolete) coming from the Middle English Derne and Old English dyrne, with meanings such as "hidden, secret" or "dark, dreary" (both of which would fit perfectly for the theme.)

 

I think a dark version of the end (like SE crossed with The End) would be good for Dern.

 

While I have said this in the past, I've been told it probably means Dark in old english multiple times. That doesn't mean the CT can't base dernic stuff off the end though
