You should invest in intel. First though, assign enough skill points to meet the skill point requirements of your armor and weapon. Def and agi come next. Strength and dex scale badly in lower levels.

With 50% melee dmg adding 20 strength points only increases your dps by roughly 9%. However, 20 points in def will increase your ehp by roughly 21%. Intel scales the best, though.

 

put enough so you can use your gear, and dump the rest into intel, or also def and agi if you die easily
