In the quest, they literally said if Lari wasn't holding back the darkness parasite would've died.

Qira is more in line with elements rather than light and dark. Perhaps she is neutral and not both.

 

I'm not sure where Qira gets her power from, unless we learn explicitly at some point I don't think we should assume that she's twilight or anything yet.
However, the reason Lari keeps losing the fights is because she runs out of energy trying to trap the parasite. If she did just try to kill it, it wouldn't be able to land a blow on her. Sure, you could say that this means she's bad at defending herself, but in this hypothetical fight she would be trying to kill Ava, so I doubt that would matter. How many giant light swords do you think Ava could take before dying? Even Bak'al tried to run after she used one on him.

Also, if you're talking about the hive servant that says Qira was holding back, they also say "I bet she's creeping on you like you're some kind of delicious little cupcake for her to eat up!", so I don't think they're the best source of reliable information. If you're talking about someone else, then sure.

The light is also trying to stop the Dernic forces, I don't think this means anything. There are more sources of magic than light, dark, and twilight, Qira could just be using something else.
The parasite was absolutely not the same power level, it was explicitly stated to be weak by Dullahan. The only reason she lost is because she let it live repeatedly.
That Anya's penumbra quote does not mean light is weaker than darkness. It means neither can ever defeat the other by itself. The reason it is from the perspective of light trying to defeat darkness is because Anya foresaw the darkness attacking the Olmic lands, not the light.

He's right that Qira uses magic-dampening gear to limit herself during those matches though, I can confirm this. I'm not certain why people are talking about Taoism though...not sure where everyone's suddenly obtaining her religious beliefs from.
