This is a small thread, on why I hate unskippable dialog, I realize the title kind of makes it sound like a defense of unskippable dialog, it is not.

Some of you, may, or may not know this about me, but I have a reading and a spelling disorder, due to this I read rather slowly. Wynncraft's dialog used to been most often set by the player, basically giving them an NPC to click on when you were done reading, however with the automation of this, dialog goes on its own pace. Now, most players find this an issue because they can read faster than the pace of the dialog, however, I personally can't keep up with it. Take Finding the Light, for example, it has a 52 line long section of unskippable dialog, of which I legitmentally attempted to pay attention to and keep up with, however by the time the dialog had finished, and the cut scene had passed, I had just made it to line 34. A lot of quests end up like this for me, such as Forbidden Prison, or Headless History. I'm tired of simply not being able to enjoy such quest to the fullest extent because of this.

I'm just writing this in order to give a different perspective on why unskippable dialog is bad, a perspective that most of you will not share. Please, make the dialog manual again, or add a reading pace option of some kind. I understand some dialog, mainly cut scenes, need unskippable dialog to work, but please keep it to a minimum.
That's it, just wanted to say and get this out here I suppose.

unskippable dialogue is bad, I automatically dislike any quest that has it even when the quest is good overall.

edit: and I understand that some quests must have it for the triggers to work and proceed with the quest, but the usage should be minimal, I feel like the unskippable dialogue is in a lot of places where it is not needed.

And then theres the bug where if you accidentally clicked on the npc twice or more when you were trying to speak to him/her, the speed of the dialogue speeds up 2x or more (basically how many times you clicked that).

Personally, I hated how dialog was appearing in the middle of the screen during the 52 lines of dialog. I missed a lot of it because I was focusing on the entire novel showing up in the chat.

some quests do need to have dialogue at a certain pace but most of them and most parts of it don't. and when every message has the same time to spell out it causes trouble for players. its especially annoying when a paragraph has the same time before the next message as a small sound effect. for example dispite its long texts the earlyish quest with the ice dude in nessak, entire cutscenes have a dialogue going with it and slowing down the dialogue would make the cutscenes undramatic and like a powerpoint

I'd say I read decently fast and I don't have a reading disorder or anything of the sort, but I also have problems with cutscenes and dialogue in some quests.

The fastest i have ever read in my whole life was during the realm of the light quests.
It stresses me for no good reason, i barely remember or understand what i just read, and it makes the whole experience worse.

tbh the fast dialoge threw me off a good bit but I enjoyed the cutscene and narrative too much to let it ruin the quest for me

Suggestion: Watch Olinus10’s guide of the quest in like 0.5x playback speed.
