    mfw people with barely any information jump on a p2w bandwagon and assuming that all of the worst-case scenarios are all going to happen...

    with the reserved slots, i'd imagine they have some specific champion slots so that other people are completely unaffected, say you have 50 regular slots and 5 extra champion slots. sure it gives an advantage, but with the current system i've always been able to get into servers within 1-2 minutes; champions can do their own thing but it really isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be

    you exaggerate how good instant class deletion would be. i'm also assuming that they will lower the deletion cooldown for everyone to compensate for this feature.

    you also have no information on how a "bomb bell" would work yet again you jump to the worst case scenario. i am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with this one; that the people making the update aren't stupid.

    tldr it really annoys me how people just assume that the worst thing possible will happen and come to conclusions way too quickly. if they do screw the update up and it does turn out p2w, then good job, but with the current information, or more accurately the current lack of information, it is stupid to come to the conclusion that the new rank is p2w and to then complain about it.

    slippery slope fallacy. minecraft literally has a eula preventing actual p2w, and if implemented well champion is nowhere near oppressive in the way your generic p2w game is.

    Okay, but unless/until they confirm it one way or the other we have to make sure. I'd much rather jump on a bandwagon that turns out to be misguided than have them actually implement bad features that they will then most likely have to take away for people who already paid for them. It's not that the worst case scenario is absolutely going to happen, but it's possible, and we need to make sure it doesn't happen.

    I don't remember where, but salted has said something along the lines of "your assumption is correct". That doesn't necessarily mean they won't change the bomb bell in the future, but so far, the bomb bell will notify champions of all dropped bombs.

    Just to explain in a bit more detail here, there is a much bigger problem with a proposed bad p2w feature than one that is actually implemented and has to be changed after people buy it, even in the beta. If we're completely wrong, that's fine, but I'd rather hash this out now, months before the update, than have to deal with an existing feature that some people will probably already have bought.

    If implemented well, yes. However, combined, the main three p2w features that people are complaining about - bomb bell, instant server switch, and reserved slots - all have the potential to massively screw over anyone who doesn't have champion. It's not just that it's p2w - existing ranks all have totems, and bombs are massively p2w, the main problem (to me at least) is that this not only doesn't help others as bombs and totems do/can do, it's that it makes it much harder for people without champion to continue using bomb parties like normal. How would anyone ever get into a prof server if champions can instant switch the second the bombs are dropped? What if a champion feels like stalking people using playerghosts in hunted? A non-champion could do that too I guess, but champions can switch quicker and get into some full servers.
    As for it being a slippery slope, that is a bit conspiratorial, but we can't just dismiss it entirely. On the one hand, I doubt they're going to be cranking out new ranks with tons more features like this or anything, but on the other hand, if they can get away with multiple features that expressly benefit people who buy a rank and screw over people who don't, who's to say it won't happen again?

    tl;dr We should still make our opinions known even if we might be completely wrong in our assumptions about the new features, just in case we're right. We shouldn't wait for the rank to release and for people to have already bought it to finally convince the admins to nerf its qol features, that would be unfair to people who have it. And, we can't just assume champion will be implemented well because there are supposed to be rules about it. From what we've seen, if it were implemented in its current state, it would have very unfair p2w mechanics that make the game harder for everyone else, and now is the best time to voice our concerns about this.

    I don't really disagree about the class deletion and reserved slots seem like they could be implemented well very easily, but we shouldn't just wait and see, we should make sure we know if the rank is going to be p2w and mess everything up.

    If they don't explain then we should assume the worst (especially on this topic) because then it can get only better.

    Over 80 replies? Oh God. Time for some evening reading.

    Anyway, I agree that bomb bell is too p2w (I don't know why bomb bell is fine if you buy it for real money, but for free, in modpack is bad). Overall chempion rank won't be bad as long as bomb bell will get removed or nerfed in some way.

    bombs = game won ???

    to me the pet tasks look most p2w, and everything else is just small qol change that should be available to everybody, but because they are so low on money they probably had to make it so they were made to be paid for

    i dont think they would suddenly start doing things out of greed whenever they have had a track record of never doing that, this is most likely an action of necessity as they spent so much and need to recover
