What In The Actual Hell

Is this a dream or is this the shitty reality guilds have always been.

I wake to find we lost 17 slots. I shrugged it off. It was so ridiculous I thought “it must be an accident, probably didn’t convert over correctly”

But it wasn’t completely bad! We leveled up. Oh wait. . Guild xp gets nerfed hardcore. . Gets 1 level. .

We were told we would get to keep our xp. Only in your current level though, apparently. Guilds like Fox didn’t even level up. Someone help me understand how a system like this is good where:

Level 76 at 99% > Level 77 at 1%.

sounds ridiculous, but the difference in those percentage points is a matter of levels. How much you leveled up depended on how much xp you had into your current level. Some guilds jumped 7 levels while others didn’t move at all. The lower level guild at 76 would have left the 77 guild in the dust.

but it doesn’t matter because years of effort were invalidated nonetheless.

Guild rework should have been its own update and done with more input from the player base that actually uses it.

I would write more but I’m busy contemplating what I’m going to do with a good chunk of my community, or how I cannot recruit until 18 people leave the guild mind you.

While I have some grievances regarding the update, most of it is the secondary changes. I genuinely enjoy the new war feature, and I understand that there are still things that need to be worked out, especially because it hasn't been actually used yet in practice so there is still a lot to assess.
Quite frankly, I never expected guilds to receive any update on this scale at all.

It was nice that a lot of content developers and staff were very open and invited our input, and still continue to do so, which is a major improvement from back then.

I do have some grievances about slots and level (mainly because of the association between level and slots). But the actual war feature I do enjoy and I appreciate all the work that was put into it.

Any disrespect towards a specific player or staff member will not be tolerated. I get that you are frusterated, I am too, but there is no exception to the rules.

Yea why the hell was it done with leftover xp and the total xp we've gained? This is a slap in the face to people who put effort into leveling their guilds before the update. It should've been our total xp scaled to the new xp requirements. I fail to see how this game continues to get worse and worse as time goes on. Guilds spent 1000s of hours on this game to be able to expand the community. I know for a fact most guilds war for the sole purpose of leveling the guild to expand the number of player slots. The more player slots a guild has, the larger its community in-game can be.

remember when TNL bought a hundred bucks worth of bombs to grind into lvl 77 only to find out it was wasted since it would have been better to not do it at all and stay at 90% of lvl 76. Thanks salted

 

You right, guilds didn't bring enough money in, so make them pay to win

 

I know my guild probably dodged a bullet here, but from what salted said guilds should have been "much easier to level up" and they tweak stuff by the tinest amount lol

 

Someone in my guild sent this. Formatting errors which should be caught in testing at a very early stage. You can go ask every non Wynn software engineer out there how important testing is. I will save the harsh and blunt words because I don't want to get banned for being such brutally honest.

 

It would have been better if the total xp gathered from level 1 to whatever level the guild was at was saved and then converted, since that actually doesn't throw millions if not billions of xp down the drain from players that spent countless of hours of their own lifetime contributing it to a guild, or thousands of hours someone spent constantly taking territories in order to level up their guild is now being thrown down the drain.

 

Guys don’t worry it’s okay because guilds are easy to level up, just remember you will have to do /gu xp 99 at all times because territories no longer give an effective amount of xp :)


but seriously this is absolutely ridiculous. If your guild update was “too intertwined with the rest of 1.20 that removing it would break everything” then you should’ve delayed the update and optimized your damn code. That’s honestly depressing

What about just make new ranks that gives holders competitive advantage?

 

yaknow, this reminds me of the 1.18 release issue that happened when billions of exp were just deleted from the entire game from tons of grinders and top level players. This is as much or even more so a slap in the face toward guild owners, chiefs, and your regular member who have been extremely active.


Wynn, fix your goddamn coordination. The entire guild community was willing to listen to you and give you our own opinions on what should be added in this update, and from the mundane and extremely misleading wars which require 24/7 activity to hold up, to now this extreme slap in the face to all old guilds made before this update.

I would’ve taken an update that only adds more mobs, makes wars harder, and fixes war bugs with the current system than take this mess of one.

 

HOT TAKE: I THINK IT WOULD BE COOL IF GUILDS WERE GOOD

 

Considering we’re still using names instead of UUIDs, I honestly shouldn’t be surprised.

I would sacrifice a content update if we could just get this damn game optimized correctly.

 

Truly, we were given a Monkey's Paw wish when we asked for guilds to be updated.

 

Provided how they don't use the correct data type to sort guild contributions correctly, you can wait until the next century to see UUIDs fully integrated.
