Recently with 1.20 coming out I've been asking myslef how all these big guilds stay active with about 3/4 of the people in them joining every week, my question is, HOW DO THEY DO THAT WHEN SOME OF THE SMALLER GUILDS LOOSE MOST OF THERE PLAYERBASE.

here's a few of the ways:

1: we have much more members, so we need a smaller percentage of people online to be "active"
2: More prestige, higher level players, etc.
3: We also kick players frequently to have active ones. My guild is a bit more chill than others, but most big guilds will kick players after more than a week of inactiveness unless they have a good reason of why there going to be away.

Pretty much as Xera said, bigger guilds kick inactive people pretty often while smaller guilds don't.
Other differences are how some guilds that up to this day have had every member be offline for more than 3 years (those do exist i'm not joking) are made between groups of irl friends who most of the time end up loosing interest and just leaving the game, or even recruit some people into their guild but the result is not different and everyone ends up eventually quitting.

For me, the ways you can help a guild grow is by constantly taking care of it and managing everything you can so you can get rid of all the inactives to be able to free up space for potentially active people, creating a sense of community between the members, and keeping things clean (as in enforcing the rules so your guild doesn't become toxic like *ahem* some guilds you will find around the #guild-politics channel).

    Minecraft:
make guild events to keep the community engaged, have something like an active discord server, in a small guild that usually means to have a somewhat "charming" leader or other founding members who talk with the members & is enough of an interesting person to keep them invested. the bigger the guild grows the more members can fill that role, making the members keeping each other active by forming friendships, or just simply enjoying each other's company enough to stay invested in the guild.
So once a guild reaches a certain size people just tend to stay more active. However if you go too deep into the community aspect and the people can stay in touch without really playing Wynn, activity might start decreasing again.

member circulation is the simple answer
but guilds also provide much more than a permanent party which you can war with. guilds give a meaning to stay active on the server, it motivates one to keep on going, because there is a group you want to contribute to, a group to participate and have fun in. thats why you'd find 3-4+ year constantly playing veterans, and thats why you'd find people with 10k+ wars despite the guild gameplay becoming repetative after a short while
