So I started playing yesterday with no prior experience and I’m a level 24 archer and 1 1/2 pages of my bank are filled with ingredients and materials and I don’t know what to do with them
    Help :)
Also what mobs drop armour and weapons because some mobs don’t and I don’t really understand that mechanic

For the ingredients, either don't keep them at all if you don't do profs (because they are a massive grind) or only keep 2 stars or more. (that's what i do, and then sell them on the market hoping someone will buy them)

For mobs, I'm not sure, but I think they drop the bad armor and weapons, and also potions. They might drop unidentifeid items? not sure

Most mobs you encounter can give you unidentified armour and weapons, drop rates vary. However, enemies with a yellow star next to their name don't drop any gear.

If it’s your first play through, I strongly discourage doing professions (it’s long, grindy and you don’t really benefit from it until lvl 100+).

Because of this, I would suggest keeping T3 ingredients (because they can sometimes sell for a lot), putting other ingredients in your pouch and selling them (shift right click the pouch), and not even bothering to gather materials (throw them out if you already have any).

Pretty much none of the stuff you likely have is worth anything to other people.

Put ingredients in you pouch and shift right click on the pouch to sell them. I keep my pouch relatively full so that I have some emeralds always on hand without it taking up any inventory space. Really nice when I forget emeralds at a boat pass shop or am just a bit short for identifying an item.

Materials can be held onto for 1.20 housing. Contrary to what the others are saying though, 3 star materials you have aren't worth much to other players. However keeping these materials would give a you a bit of a boost in getting a good house.

So I quickly read up on the update and you use low level materials in exchange for building blocks right? So what do I do with them and if i keep them where would I put them?

Just keep them in your bank for now. The update is close to release. Don't worry about having sold those items. They are easy enough to get. I was mostly just suggesting to hold on to them because they have use. If they are filling up your bank space though just thrown them out or sell them to the blacksmith.

The 3 star materials are only valuable at high levels, which you aren't at yet. Low level ones were only good for therk set, which is being removed and nerfed. So no one is likely to buy your 3 star materials. 2-3 star ingredients can be useful though.

Materials are things like wood and ingots and stuff like that that you get from gathering professions. You craft stuff out of them

Ingredients are dropped by mobs and chests, and usually go directly to your ingredient pouch. These give special stats to items, but unlike materials they aren't necessary for crafting an item.
