The time it takes for them to correct their mistakes way too long as well. In April of 2020 I was wrongly banned for something and the only thing they did was send me to other people it ended up taking me a week to get unbanned and they gave the reason (the API wasn't working correctly). This also caused me to miss a DXP weekend.
Edit: if this was fixed I wouldn’t even have a problem with them permanently banning every offense.

Just wanna say map pushes and bugs/soft locks taking forever to fix aren't a mod issue.

I do not understand the reason behind comparing the Wynncraft moderation team to that of Hypixel. They are different servers with unique player-bases and rules.

A lot of concerns mentioned also have nothing to do with the moderation team and is beyond their role.

I’d suggest changing the title to “Wynncraft team”, as not to specify only moderators. Nice thread though, some of these issues need fixing asap.

Tbh I don't see why any of this shouldn't be an instant ban (unless everyone is abusing the glitch cuz they can't ban everyone), hacking/duping/abusing glitches is obviously against the rules to anyone who has a brain, so if you are still breaking the those rules you deserve an instant ban. hypixel just wants your money so if they allow u to play again you have chance to buy their things
This is correct but there is a bug sections where you can report bugs and its being fixed in the next update, however I do agree that there should be a team separate that helps player un-lock their quest.
If you are going to compare with Hypixel's mod team, I got muted for saying "Delete Skyblock its the worst game on Hypixel" so I don't see how Wynn's mod team can be worse off. Also are you going to ignore watchdog false bans, IRL trading that mods don't even care, and then there's the buying gems straight from hypixel store. Also you need to take note that Wynn's team is made up of volunteers and not paid unlike those other servers

I genuinely do not understand why some of these topics are being put up for discussion. You state that it is put to a permanent ban then left to appeal, when I would argue that they give out indefinite bans and then judge each on a case by case scenario through their appeals. Yes, there is a difference - Permanent implies there is no end in sight, whereas indefinite means there is no defined time to the end of their ban and thus can be lifted at any moment. Moving on, what is the negative of indefinite bans? If you put a tier system of bans then you will get people MORE likely to break the rules because of the safety net which is instilled in being hit with the first tier of punishment as apposed to being hit with an indefinite ban that makes the staff member checking your appeal case to look more closely into your rule breakage, which could highlight that you did indeed do it on purpose and making your ban last longer.

It just seems that this should be a developer discussion, a critique on the lack of transparity, because the only topics that have a lot of weight behind them are things that involve hot-fixes and the like.

    Opinions:

Minor Glitch Abuse: 1 week ban
Eh, depends on the glitch. I guess. Maybe less time or just a warning in some cases.

Major Glitch Abuse 30 day ban
What kinds of glitches could possible warrant the above? Something like whatever people were using to get tons of EXP from dungeons or something awhile back?

Duping Intentionally: 30 day ban and a complete wipe of their account
Account wipe would be a bit too harsh. Just remove the duped items and be done with it.

    Cheating/External Tools: 30 day ban
No real opinion. Maybe make it 7, 15, 30 etc? Eh.

That's completely true but one thing I've been wondering for a while is why the CT/Devs don't push out hotfixes. It's clearly a huge issue experienced by a multitude of players for ages. So why don't they like, have two maps? One for the new content that they're working on, and for the current game? And maybe two different sets of code?

Admittedly I am completely ignorant in coding and programming, but it doesn't sound that hard, but even if it is, why haven't we gotten an official word from them? It all ties back to the lack of communication causing confusion.

It is definitelly possible and in the case of code usually done. (e.g. Wynntils has 2 versions. Stable, released once a few months and Cutting Edge, which is updated with every addition/change

That seems like a poor excuse. They should have the resources for this, right? I mean, they already should have backs just in case something goes wrong and this is basically the same thing, a copy of the map they can edit to fix bugs and whatnot.

We don't really know. And about resources: iirc the prices tripled in the last few months, so it that is a factor

I guess the prices might be a factor, but that's only recent. What about before? I just wish we got an actual statement.

    I agree.

A permanent ban is a very hard punishment for a little glitch. That makes no sense, its just unfair I think.

Honestly I would do it like this:

minor glitch: 3 months ban (long enough to be effective but still not forever)
major glitch (a glitch that influences other players): 1 year ban
something extreme like duping: permanent ban

Completely right. I believe there should have been 2 separate threads as having problem with mods is 1 discussion and having problems with bugs/hotfixes or slow releases is a different story. It's not mods fault as it's the CT/Admin team who makes the updates and patches. Unfortunately, the CT/QA team cannot push patches even if the bugs are fixed on the build server. However, the admins are also not the one to blame, since it is really hard to make a stable system in MC which would solve this problem and not just cause more problems.

It's right that Wynntils has 2 versions however merging and version management of code is FAR more easy than merging Minecraft worlds, because the handling of conflits of multiple versions for MC worlds are far more harder and not straightforward.

Let's say there would be 2 versions of a chunk, do you go block by block and decide which one to keep? Do you decide to keep the one version of the chunks? What happens to the entities, command blocks, npcs in the area?
That's why it's hard to make a system like that. I believe it would be already in use, if it was easy to make.

I also don't think file size would be an issue, also I am fairly certain that MC saves chunk data in a way so that you don't have to have a copy of the whole world if 1 chunk is saved, you would only need a copy of the changed mca file and other smaller files which are usually pretty light.

In the end, I hope they can figure out a solution to this problem, as bugfixes need to happen more frequently, not just whenever the next update is ready.

Many of the issues are code-related. I was referring to these, not map mistakes. That one is much more problematic of course

A ban is not necessarily permanent by any means. It isn't even that difficult to appeal your ban if you put effort into it depending on the rule you violated.

I like the current system. It seems what is being pushed for in this thread is automation to some extent. I think it is important to look at things from a case by case basis and have proper communication alongside other advantages that the existing enforcement provides. The current system is good in my opinion because it forces the player to communicate with the moderator team before getting unbanned. The system additionally makes players realize and confess to the rule/s they violated and has them reflect on it. This ultimately allows for more growth and less occurrence of repeated violations, helping them become better members of our community.
