Is It Just Me, Or Does The Game Feel Oddly Paced?

Maybe it's the world that feels really big, but there really seems to be a bunch of empty space on most maps.

It's by no means a bad thing to have a big, wide world, but...Eh, just on foot? It feels so boring to move from point to point on the map, even if it's relatively small in comparison to most vanilla Minecraft worlds.

And the combat's pace feels a bit off. Like, one minute, I'm trucking along just fine, killing Mobs left and right, but then the very second I check my Inventory- OH, SALTED - aaaaaannnd I just died. (Yes, based on true events.)

Anyone else feel that the game's pacing is a bit off?

 

You get a horse on lv.34 after completing "Stable Story" quest. You can also you your second spell for movement

This is how normal minecraft works too. There is no reason for pausing the game by opening inventory.

Do you not have a horse?
Or movement?
Or fast travel?
As an assassin going from anywhere to anywhere else took at the absolute maximum 10 minutes, usually took 5
As a mage it takes 4 at max

 

Ice Bear says the map actually feels a bit small at times because of how fast you can travel and move. Ice Bear says otherwise, the map even though it is big it is definitely not empty every part feels like it has something to explore every cave that you can venture into rewards you for exploring and there are a lot of discoveries. Compared to the other MMORPGs Ice Bear has played such as Destiny 2, and The Division (yeah not very many) Wynncraft feels far less empty and more alive.

 

Moving on foot in such a big wide world will definitely get boring real fast. That's why scrolls, horses, and fast travel exist! Not sure if "off" is the right way to describe combat--just that the combat can surprise you from time to time. In this case, you probably weren't expecting for mobs to gang up on you when you were busy checking your inven :)

 

I think that it's been paced decently, since you can get horses starting at level 34, and up until that point, it usually keeps you in the same area for a few levels, doing quests in one part of wynn for a while before moving to a new area. I'd say save up all the money you make up to then, then try your best to get a black horse, or even a chestnut one if you're feeling ballsy. I'd never genuinely recommend going for a white horse till you're endgame, it'll just be such a money-sink. But once you get around level 40, you're gonna be moving longer distances, so getting a decent horse is a good investment. Plus, money isn't very important at all early and mid game, especially since the market has been down for so long.

 

For multiple times, I have got the feelimg that the map is too small. You can get from the Ancient City (most southwestern spot) to the corner of the Molten Heights (most northeastern spot) without fast travel (excluding horses and boats) very likely in under/about 15 minutes.
